Can you buy an accessory which downloads photos from the camera card to the iPad?

Most definitely! Go to any Apple store, or, the Apple store on line, and ask/look for a camera connection kit. You can plug either one directly into the charging port on your IPAD, and attach a USB cable, or, use the other attachment and insert your SD card from your camera. The attachment only accepts SD cards.!
