cheap build / muddy sound

these are a fashion accessory more than great headphones. i checked out the beats studio headphones and thought they sounded great, but not for 300.00. so i waited for the release of these solos at 180.00 -- i figured theyd have similar audio quality.
unboxing them, i noticed right away that the cushion that lines the upper headband didnt meet flush w/ the connecting piece (on both sides) and this would be problematic in the future (reading many reviews on the studios, these beats headphones tend to be built poorly) -- i unsnapped the cushion and noticed that there was just too much slack in the material.
i plugged them into my iphone 3gs and flipped thru my playlists. even though they arent noise canceling, the cups suction around your ears blocking most of the outside sounds. from rock to hiphop, the vocal tracks (hi end) just seemed muddy and nothing in the EQ could be done to brighten the quality. this is sort of a bummer because the beats studios werent like this at all. also, i noticed these shook off my head w/ little effort.

The best Beats for the money!

Ok, These Beat Solo's ROCK! First off, they have great sounding Bass. You will not be disappointed. Plus you get Beat quality music for almost half the price. I've heard the other Beats and they are better, but not 120 dollars better. For the money these Beat Solo's ROCK! Super comfortable to wear and perfect for travel with there folding design. The headphone cord is tangle free and is plenty long. (4 feet 3 inches long). perfect for people who have there iphone or ipod in there pocket. The headphone cord side that plugs into your iphone is angled 90 degrees. The other side can be un-pluged form the headphones.
Ok, now on to the best part. The integrated headphone control with mic. It works exactly as the stock iphone 3GS headphone work. You get Voice control, volume up and down, Play and Pause, answer and end call, and next track control. Now for all you 3G owners, You lose a few things on the control side. You lose, voice control and volume up and down. I know this cuzz i tested it on my wife's 3G iphone. I believe the same goes for the original iphone too. So if you want to control volume up and down, you need to own a iphone 3GS.
These headphone controls should also work with the ipod nano (4th Gen), ipod classic (120GB), ipod touch (2nd Gen), ipod shuffle (3rd Gen), and of course the iphone 3GS. Any other models will still support audio. …More4 of 6 people found this useful

Does not work w/ Palm Pre

Purchased these yesterday and I'll be returning them, they do not work with the Palm Pre (for voice functionality. they do end calls, though). Also, the mids on these things are OUT OF CONTROL. There's little to no bass, very little highs, all that you can hear are mids. Weird balance. Not a fan but man they look cool... …More
