    great value by b&w

I've been an avid user of B&W products for over a dozen years and currently own a pair of sig 805 and 802D driven by classe Delta series electronics. When I found out the P5 was in the making, I was anxious to get my hands (and ears) on a pair. Well, I got them and here's the low down...

built: as expected, it is second to none in this price range. I know that many have reservation about the thin cord. I actually like it as it doesn't get in the way when I'm on the go. Thick cords are bothersome and unwieldy. Because it is easily replaced, I don't care if it doesn't last a decade. Aside from this, everything else about the unit is top notch...hard to believe they can sell it for just $300.

comfort: They are light and hugs the head very tightly. You can jog with these. Not as comfortable as bose qc15 because it sits over the ears instead of around. I think it's fine if you wear it for a couple of hours at a time. My ears are a little sore after just an hour.

sound: I own a pair of bose qc15 and I have to admit, these blow them away in every respect. The highs are much clearer. Voices are more opened. Bass is punchy and smoother. Of course, they are not as good at noise cancellation/isolation as the bose, but they are adequate for most settings. Just remember to tweak how they sit on your head. This affects the bass if they are not air tight over the ears. So how do they compare with their audiophile products? Perhaps a little unfair to compare them with a system costing as much as a car, but here goes...as good as they sound for headphones, you can still tell they are...closed ear headphones. There is a distinct coloration that sounds like drivers mounted in a "tube." This is very pronounced in the mid range. There isn't the stage presence and air that I'm used to. The bottom line is, I'm happy with them, but don't expect them to be more then what they are and they are mass consumer grade product just like the zep.

Incredible in every sense of the word!

I was looking for an alternative to the bulky Monster Beats. I've owned the monster beats ever since they first came out and although the sound is very good, i found them really large and disliked the fact it required batteries. I picked these up to try out because I was very impressed with the slim size and industrial design (they are built with metal and leather).

I am a huge fan of these Bowers & Wilkins P5 Headphones. I’m no audiophile but these headphones deliver the whole package - best sound I’ve ever heard and an amazing retro design. I was a bit worried about the discomfort of the pads pressing on my ears but after about 3 days of use, the high quality leather pads “break in” and they are really comfortable.

I found these to be worth every penny. However, if you have a music collection with lower bitrate (under 256 kbps) I wouldn’t advise investing in high-end audio equipment.

    Do not hesitate

Short and sweet, if your in the market for headphones in this pricepoint than these P5's are a must.

They musically are an accurate representation of whatever your listening too. Nothing over bearing or added. They will expose poor mp3's or cd's in your collection and highlight everything recorded within great ones (things you may never have picked up prior). They offer an incredible soundstage and in most recordings you will be able to differentiate each instrument and their place across the range.

If you love to lie in a dark room with your eyes closed and just get lost in the music than you may find yourself with permanent smile on your face doing so when wearing the P5's.

Ive yet to find any of the heat issues (I'm sure this is a personal thing that each individual will have to see for themselves).

They say that running shoes should feel like slippers while on...well I'm not sure what a direct equivalent is but when you forget that your wearing them like I've done before than that might be it.

That's it...don't hesitate or over-think it the B&W P5's are a class above any other headphones in their price range. They are a sophisticated headphone bottom line...

    Most excellent

Had another brand with active noise canceling. These sound superior, and do a decent job blocking the background noise on an airplane with the soft leather and internal cushioning for a good ear seal.

Sound is excellent. The quilted bag is nice. They store flat so they don't take up as much space in your briefcase. Nice.

I have a couple of extended trips coming up and decided I wanted a set of comfortable headphones. After reading reviews of the soft leather and quality construction, I decided to buy these. They are great and very portable for this style. They fold flat in a nice carrying case and they have adaptors for different uses. My only criticism would be the need for a better description of the product in the booklets included. There is so much interest in the number of languages in the brochure, that little is actually said. More

  • Bowers & Wilkins P5 or Bose QC3?

So I'd have to say go with the P5's. I bought the QC15's first and had them for about 2 weeks, and while they are extremely comfortable and do a good job canceling low frequency uni-tone sound like jet rumbling or outdoor ambient noise, they don't cancel out voices or babies crying-- which, since I'm a student and I fly a lot, is imperative for me. Also, the sound quality is far superior in the P5's, they're extremely natural sounding and very comfortable. They don't formally cancel noise like the QC's do, but the noise isolation technology ensures that at a reasonably safe volume I can't hear a word anyone says, and on plane flights they do a fairly good job of isolating the music and at least muffling the sound of the plane without necessarily canceling it the way the QC's do. Once I exchanged my QC's for the P5's I didn't think twice once. More

I don't own a pair of these yet unfortunately, but plan to treat myself to a pair this christmas. I've clocked a lot of time with them in assorted apple stores, and they work perfectly with the iPhone 4, and 3gs's old voice control by holding down the centre button to activate. Now i do have the iPhone 4s, and the inline buttons on the headphone cable are laid out exactly the same, and activate Siri via the same method.
So i'm more or less certain, by putting two and two together, that yes, the inline remote can activate and control Siri
Hope this was helpful, just sorry i couldn't give you a definite answer.
