How to Set-Up the Wireless feature

Written by RC from Elk Grove

    Aug 28, 2009

When you are installing the software and you select one of the wireless options, it will then ask you for your WEP Security Key. Be sure to use the "Hex equivalent password (WEP key), a numeric number. Do not use your regular password. You can find the key in your Airport Admin Utility app.

Now the printer and scanner work perfectly - wirelessly!

Wireless driver not yet available for OS X 10.6

    Written by GM from Lakewood

    Sep 11, 2009

After reading the reviews, both here and on other sites, I was initially leaning towards the Canon PIXMA MP620 for my wireless printing needs. Before pulling the trigger, I decided to first go to the local big box store to check both out in person. My initial impression of the Canon was that it was very flimsy and seemed cheaply built. I put a sheet of paper in, put a postcard on the scanner bed, and pressed "copy". I was not impressed with the result. I then went over to the HP C4780 and did the same. The result was much better. Granted, I do not know if the print quality settings had been messed with, or how much ink remained in either printer (though I was given no "low ink" warning from either machine). The build quality and looks of the HP were more to my liking as well (though it is a little slick for my tastes).

Anyway, set up was going good until I received a message stating that the printer could not locate my wireless network. Anyway, long story short, the CD that is included with the printer is for OS X 10.4 and 10.5, and as of 9/11/2009, there is no OS X 10.6 driver available on the HP website.

    Great Choice!

    Written by JT

The print, scan, and copy functions all work great IF you can get the device to work with your Snow Leopard 10.6 OS X. I originally installed this device without the included disc as I was told (and read) that OS X 10.6 had the driver included. Well, this is very true, BUT it is not that simple for those of us who just purchased a new Mac!

Since this device is being offered directly from Apple with a $100 off promotion many of us have purchased this printer with our NEW Mac. This means we had Snow Leopard pre-installed on our new Macs, therefore, common sense would tell us the driver should be already there...right? WRONG!

Well, I simply popped in the Mac OS X Snow Leopard disc - which comes with your new systems - and found out the reason we have been having so much trouble. The check box next to the printer driver selection was left UNCHECKED! I simply checked the box, reinstalled Mac OS X Snow Leopard, and the appropriate driver was there with gave me FULL functionality. You would think when they installed this OS update at the factory it would automatically be there...NOPE! The solution is easy folks...just pop in your disc and make sure to check mark the box!

The printer install after that (I did mine wirelessly - no USB) took all of 10 seconds.

    Problem Solved! [Mac users]

    Written by CR from Fairfield

Ok, I spent a couple hours trying to figure out how to connect this printer wirelessly to my macbook pro. If you are running version 10.6 of Mac OS X, download the software needed for the printer. The cd that it comes with only supports versions 10.4 and 10.5.

DOWNLOAD the software for v10.6 at hp.com [If you are running Mac OS X 10.6]
