Powerful!

I just purchased this card for my Mac Pro and it works like a charm. However, be aware that Apple does NOT install this card in the Mac Pro prior to shipping and has to be purchased and installed separately. So please consider installing it yourself or hiring someone to do it for you. Do NOT get rid of the original graphics card!. My understanding is that the system will not boot from the Mac OS X DVD unless you replace the original graphics card. I painfully learned that lesson today while trying to repair Leopard. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but this seems to be the consensus in the forums with many after market graphics cards. Otherwise, I'm very happy with it. …More

I rated this amazing high end graphics card two stars because of the install process, i hope to see if this card can do what it says and then i might give it 5 stars. After waiting a long time to get it i have spent 4 days installing it, make sure you get the latest drivers don't install the ones on the cd because apple care doesn't know how to remove the drivers nor does the internet, after getting the much loved mac kernel OPENGL timeout error, computer locks up and hard restart is required,I followed the install process meticulously and there is i think a problem with the nvidia installer.I use Maya 2009 which is a opengl intensive 3d application, You would think that a mac pro 3,1 octocore (no bootcamp just 10.5.7 leopoard) would be happy to have this card over for dinner but no, especially using it with Maya. After staring at log files for two days looking for the crash error you learn allot about where the drivers are going and there names NVDA50HAL.kext is a important driver, i think this has installed ok and maybe in the next week i can see the potential of this card. …More

This Card is the best in the market yet. no driver needed 10.5.5 or 10.6 boot up nicely.
Ok people who uses Motion, Maya, and vector based apps you will save so mach time with this card. 5 minutes to install. if you doing more encoding this card cut up to 70% of your encoding and rendering time , depends on app too.
blue ray , h264 4 times faster and if you using snow leopard will be more due to multi core usage in snow.
final cut users'''' dont bather, this card wont change much for you.
i have this card 2 months now and i love it …More24 of 28 people found this useful
