HP Photosmart C4680 All-in-One Printer
Best $100 printer yet...
Written by GG from Grosse Pointe Woods

I got this printer with a new MacBook, and it works flawlessly. If you hear that it is unreliable or unusable, then that person clearly can't follow 4 simple directions. In fact, after the easy setup process, this printer created crisp and clear photos. I even used it with multiple PCs and Macs.
The cartridges are significantly less than most, which makes them a good bargain. If you have the chance to get this for free, or even if you have to pay for it, this printer is an awesome value. …More132 of 138 people found this useful

HP Photosmart C4680 All-in-One Printer
Easy to use printer
Written by GS
Jul 22, 2009
This printer was SUPER EASY to set up with my iMac, and I was printing documents within 10 minutes of plugging it in the wall. So far, I'm pleased with document print quality. I don't really have any high tech printing needs- I mainly print black and white documents for my classroom and class projects for my own children. I have only printed one photo so far to test photo print quality- I prefer to order my prints. The one picture I did print seemed to lack good color saturation (on high quality glossy photo paper). Overall, I have been happy with this printer for the 3 weeks I have owned it. …More

HP Photosmart C4680 All-in-One Printer
better printer than canon for rebate
Written by DN from Lake Villa
Jul 25, 2009
I chose this HP over the Canon mp 480 because of the better scanner and better b&w printing resolution. It's performed well and is easy to use. It's nothing fantastic but you can't go wrong with a free printer after rebate. The only reason I would have gotten the Canon (and their more expensive 5? printing cartridges) was cuz it looks better... …More

HP Photosmart C4680 All-in-One Printer
Does not communicate with IMac
Written by TM from Great Barrington
Nov 24, 2009
It prints well, but any time I want to scan I have to insert a memory card, if I do not insert a memory card a message that an unexpected error has occurred shows up and the printer stops working. When I have a memory card inserted in the printer it opens a window and gives the message that an unknown error as occurred, closes the window and the scan appears in IPhoto. I have uninstalled all of the terrible HP software that came with the printer. Too bad Mac doesn't make a printer, because this one doesn't get along with my Mac. I have a 27" iMac. …More

HP Photosmart C4680 All-in-One Printer
Disappointment and Frustration
Written by CW from brooklyn
Nov 19, 2009
Just the facts: printer arrived with a new Mac Pro and was defective, it would not load the print cartridges that came with it. Following the setup instruction did not work because the carriage would not move to the center when the front door was opened. I called Apple to return it and they said that I had to deal directly with HP. So, HP sent me another printer that installed the print cartridges and printed flawlessly, but refuses to scan anything.
The problem and my present frustration going on my third unit is that I don't have lots of time to spend working on this problem. The people at HP are nice, but hold times are anywhere from 45 mins to an hour.
Something for me to consider in the future when Apple offers a free printer with purchase is going to be is it really worth the headache? At this point, I'm looking to just buy a decent printer and be done with it.
I don't know if anyone else feels this way, and perhaps it is inappropriate to vent like this; but I expect better after spending $3500 on a new computer system. This has soured me on Apple. …More8 of 10 people found this useful

Initially I got frustrated because it would neither scan nor print. However, I if you uninstall the HP software, download the updated drivers from HP and install them, then turn of the computer and printer and turn on again it works fine.
To print there is an icon on the toolbar. To scan go to application and choose HP scan.
The supplied software should 'just work', alas it does not. However, the fix is relatively easy. …More- Answered by AD from Fremont
