Overview
Canon's EOS Rebel T1i is packed with features, both refined and new - from an all-new 15.1-megapixel Canon CMOS sensor and DIGIC 4 Image Processor to a 3.0-inch Clear View LCD and compatibility with the EOS System of lenses and Speedlites. Its HDMI port allows for quick connections to high-definition TVs and monitors for easy viewing of your stills and video. And the entire operation is simple and easy even if you're a beginner.
High-resolution still capture
Offering many of the same technologies used by Canon's professional cameras to maximize each pixel's light gathering efficiency, the CMOS sensor captures images with exceptional clarity and tonal range and offers the most pixels in its class.
Sophisticated still and video capabilities
Shoot brilliant video, even in full high definition, by simply selecting Movie mode on the mode dial. The camera's 3.0-inch LCD lights up, and it's ready to go.
Full-featured on-screen shooting
With Live View Function, you can enjoy nearly every camera function available in normal shooting - all with the convenience of composing on the brilliant LCD monitor.
Rugged and reduced glare high-resolution screen
The LCD monitor features 920,000 dots/VGA for far more detail. It's the same screen found on professional models and includes an anti-reflective and water-repellent coating that provides a clearer and more smudge-resistant surface.

just got mine...
Overall I'm very pleased...it's a nice upgrade over my old rebel..the large lcd screen is great for those of us needing reading gl asses. I love to shoot macros, flowers, and finding it very hard to get great focus (manually), unlike my rebel, maybe a technique? The RAW format has a .CR2 file extension, apparently not supported in iPhoto..please fix that Apple! I'm importing into Photoshop Elements. Not sure if Aperture supports or not. Body, weight, overall feel are great. Intuitive controls are the Canon trademark...easy to learn the features. Haven't tried the HD video yet, but that's not why I bought the camera... …

Truly a Great Camera!
The BEST $799 I ever spent, honestly the 15.1 mp is great for a camera thats borderline of entry level and professional level.
So Far I have done many photoshoots and thanks to this camera I have had to scrap my portfolio because the quality is really just that great that I feel compelled to re do my theme and get a picture that will really WOW
The HD recording is great as well at 1080 it records 20 fps and at 720 it does 30fps both look great and both are great to use, some folks complain that it does focus well in auto mode but thats never affected me i prefer to do MF even on video
this camera will not be a regrettable choice I PROMISE! …- Written by Denise L from brooklyn

I works well take some of the best pictures I have seen and the HD 1080p Wow what can I say. Not bad at all now I know the 5D Mark II yes dose better HD. But the T1i is not bad. I got this camera to replace the Rebel XS. I am so happy with this camera I would recommend it to any one that wants a Good DSLR without going to the Pro line of cameras. …

WOULDN'T TRADE IT
I am a junior in a Design and Visual Communication shop, and I absolutely love this camera. I did not buy this camera for a a sole purpose. I bought it to shoot, whats at hand. That is probably what I love most about it, the flexibility and versatility . I can go to a baseball game shoot there, then to a landscape and it works all the same. I am also in love with the HD video capability. One of the downsides I have found is it does not support a sync cord , so a portrait photographer , might be turned off by this. Such a lightweight camera , extremely functional, and great priced. SUCH A WIN. …

The Canon T1i is certified for Mac and Windows. The Nikon D90 is certified only for Windows. What does this mean, and why is it important?

This affects you in several ways. First of all Canon works seamlessly with MAC, no third party apps and in most cases, no need to even install software. Canon will allow to you to REMOTE SHOOT the camera as well. In other words, hook your T1i to your mac and w/the software you get a LIVE screenshot on your mac of what is on the Camera and adjust accordingly, even take pics that save to your MAC (video will save to SD card). Nikon doesn't offer that option as far as I'm concerned... Good luck! …
