moshi 13" PalmGuard Palm Rest Protector for MacBook Pro
Love the product!

I had the Moshi PalmGuard on my previous white MacBook for over a year and a half and I loved it. It kept the palm area clean and unscratched and was extremely easy to install. The material didn't wear in the entire time I used it. I was a bit skeptical about the PalmGuard for the new unibody MacBook because I figured it would be difficult to color-match the material to the aluminum. I decided to give it a shot since I liked the white one so much. So far its been great! It protects the palm area and track pad just like the older version that I had, and despite my skepticism is matches the color perfectly! I highly recommend this product for anyone who is looking to protect their MacBook!

moshi 13" PalmGuard Palm Rest Protector for MacBook Pro
Good lord...
Written by AC from Kansas City

After seeing the rave reviews here, I expected a lot from this product.
The main palm rest is great...not exactly the best fit, but it still appears to be worth the price. My last laptop had a big spot worn in right there, so I welcome anything that will prevent that.
The part that goes on the trackpad - junk. Instead of feeling smooth like the trackpad, it's rough and gritty feeling...meaning I'm sure it'll get nasty looking with my finger dragging over it for 5-6 hours every day. On top of the gritty feel, it hinders the trackpad's sensitivity just a bit. Now when I tap to click, it rarely works on the first try. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually, but it looks horrid anyway, so I'll probably end up scrapping the trackpad piece.
That brings me to my only other complaint. The pieces aren't an exact fit, so you have try and center the pieces so that the gap is even on each side...otherwise your MacBook will have uneven gaps between touchpad and body....looking like a car that's been wrecked and the door doesn't line up evenly with the body.
Bottom line...it's an OK product and probably worth protecting the palm area from scratches. But five star reviews people? Really? …More20 of 24 people found this useful

It was scary installing this palm guard because once it sticks...it sticks! Yet it fits perfectly, the silver color matches precisely and it does a great job of protecting one of the most vulnerable areas of my MacBook Pro …More

Found an easy way to install it

Luckily I found this video on you tube and it works like a charm. Got mine on perfectly
Search for "Moshi palmguard installation" on youtube. It will not let me post the link here.
My only gripe is the track pad sensitivity is reduced. For scrolling it is fine. If you use "tap to click" you have to tap harder. …More3 of 3 people found this useful

moshi 13" PalmGuard Palm Rest Protector for MacBook Pro
Great product

This is a great product. The fit is almost perfect, much like the moshi iVisor. Although it is not designed to remove, if you are careful, you can pull it off as you are applying it to make adjustments...just BE CAREFUL if you need to do this. I will confirm the track pad feels rougher with the protection on it, but I have not had any problems with sensitivity. I find the feel of the palm rest to be pleasant, it is a bit rougher, but more of a tactical feel. Color match is spot on. Obviously there is a difference between aluminum and vinyl, so I am not going to say you cannot notice it. It blends in well overall, however. If you are looking for a palm rest protector, you will not be disappointed here. …More

does it leave the surface of the aluminum sticky after you take it off/ and can you take it on and off easily?

Definitely not, it's quite fabulous really. I've had mine on continuously for about 10 months. I'm a grad student so my MacBook Pro palm area sees a lot more traffic than the average computer would. Needless to say, I recently wanted to replace it because it was looking a REALLY DIRTY (better the protector than the computer aluminum right?) and pulled it right off......no build up, no residue, no stickiness. The only con I can think of is that the actual pad doesn't completely fit to the edges so you're going to have to center it yourself. It also comes with a clear cover for the trackpad. This fits pretty true AND is great b/c it keeps the grease and grime and possible discoloration away. Mine is still on right now and I can actually see the main spot that my fingers rome in that's ultra shiny.....just think, that could be my actual trackpad instead of the covering. For such an expensive computer, it makes sense to use this item. Best investment for my MacBook Pro as of yet. …More
