A really good case and extended battery

If the Achilles heel of the iPhone is battery life this case is the cure. It more than doubles the run time of my iPhone and looks good doing it. The single securing snap is solid and makes it easy to get the phone in or out of the case.
Any case + battery will add bulk, but the Tekkeon myPower keeps that to a bare minimum - much more so than others I have looked at. The case seam around the display extends outward slightly making it easier to get a good grip on the phone and increasing the protection if dropped on its side.
An integrated LED makes it easy to know the charge state of the external battery and that LED is conveniently yet discretely positioned on the case. A mini-USB connector is used for charging the case instead of an IPod connector - a nice touch for those of us with lots of mini-USB cables lying around. Because there is no external iPod connector I do have to remove the iPhone from the case to dock it in my car, but that is very easy to do.
Display protection is provided via a stick on screen protector. This is a much better solution than some sort of transparent soft plastic attached to the case as the stick on screen protectors don't get in the way of the touch interface. Best of all if you have a favorite screen protector you can just keep on using it.

I have been looking for a case with battery pack for a while. I was a bit worry about performance of such a product after reading a lot of reviews on several competing products. The biggest worry for me is the possible effects on mobile phone reception. After all, if you can't get/make phone calls, what is the point of using such a product? Such concerns lead me to choose Tekkeon myPower since it is the only product that has no user complaints on reception.
After using Tekkeon myPower for a while, I need to say that I am very pleased with this product. Here is a summary of my own experience.
Pros
- It doesn't affect mobile phone reception a bit.
- myPower charges the internal battery and iPhone's battery at the same time.
- It is very easy to use. If you connect myPower to PC, it automatically charges and syncs. There is no button to push.
- The speed of syncing is very fast. I didn't notice any "slow down" in data transfer speed, comparing to the speed of using the Apple's USB cable.
Cons
- The style is a bit "conservative" but that is ok for me. I need the function, not the style of myPower.

I bought myPower for iPhone MP1200 by Tekkeon right after I got my iPhone in early January. I was a little disappointed at first as to how fast the iPhone's battery ran down, but equally surprised and pleased to find the myPower for iPhone by Tekkeon. It allows me to charge both the myPower and the iPhone simultaneously or I can charge them separately. I can use just the battery of the myPower to power the iPhone and save the battery of the iPhone. This will give a longer life to my iPhone and if I happen to use my iPhone a lot I have plenty of battery to get me through for two days. I like that I am not tied to the charger like I was prior to buying the myPower. The protection of the case of myPower is substantial. I now see that Apple carries a similar model of myPower for iPhone, the MP1250 and would like to share my positive experience with other iPhone owners. It works great for the 3G, but not on the 3GS. Can't charge it with the iPhone in it. Then doesn't hold the charge. Then shorted out when i put the phone in it. Called Tekkeon about this several times, but they say it's a problem with the 3GS. …More

Extra power for my iPhone

When I got this case, I was a little skeptical after reading the good and bad results everyone expressed, but I decided to give it a try anyways. If it did not work as expected, I could just return it. I used it for a couple of weeks and didn't experience any problems and then one day the case just stopped working. I called Tekkeon and they explained to me that my case will shut down to avoid getting damaged if my iPhone 3GS wants more power then its suppose to use. Apparently, this will only happen when my iPhone 3GS is searching for network. All I had to do is plug the case into a USB to wake it up and then everything worked again. The case shutting down made me worry that this was a bad purchase but apparently this protection is there to help this case and iPhone from getting damaged. So far it only happened to me once. I would recommend this case if you need that extra power for your iPhone. …More

When I got my 3GS, I didn't see any need for an external battery pack. When I started using Public Radio player to listen to news and talk shows and started using Google Map to find restaurants & etc. on my business trips, the need for an external battery pack became obvious. I chose Tekkeon myPower because it seems to have better reviews, especially have less interference. After I got my myPower, I have been using every single day. I have no problem with it at all.
