    Great product

I'll never understand why Wi-fi isn't standard on cameras yet in 2009, so until then this is a GREAT alternative to always having to plug in my camera since my macbook doesn't have an SD slot. It uploads to any combination of online/local address of your choice. I have mine set for facebook and iphoto for example. The web-based user interface is well designed and easy to use. Overall a great product. More

No, the Eye-Fi card has a wireless antenna built into it. The USB attachment is just a card reader that Eye-Fi provides for the initial installation.

The first thing you do when you get an Eye-Fi card is plug it into your computer with the card reader and install some software that, basically, directs traffic. This is how you'll be telling the card where to send the photos and videos. "Into this directory and to this online photo sharing site." You'll also be adding your wireless network to the card so that it can access the Internet or send the photos/videos locally to your computer.

Once you've completed the installation, you can toss the card reader into a drawer. The wireless is all in the memory card itself so you never need to take the card from your camera again. Hold onto the card reader though in case you need or want to add another wireless network later (you can add multiple network profiles so it can upload from other places).
