    Not worth it....

First, let me say i'm shocked that there are so many good reviews about this case/rechargable battery. I bought the case because I didnt have time between work and school to charge my phone. I was very dissapointed in the product and have already returned it. The case doesn't protect the front of the phone at all like most other cases do. If you were to drop your phone screen side down, then the entire screen would hit the ground. Since the case doesnt use the iphone charger you cant sync it, car charge it, or hook it up to any speaker docks. The speaker on the phone is muffled by the case. The case also heats up while your charging your phone. The mophie juice pack also makes your phone weigh way a lot more and it also makes the phone double in width. I love the iphone because it is thin and light weight. Overall I was very dissapointed and wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. The concept is good, but it needs a lot of work. More

    Some bad with the good.

My first attempt to extend the disappointing battery service was to purchase the initial Mophie Juice Pack (Green interior). That worked good but didn't cover the exterior like the new Air model does. The new Air model looks better but has about 20% less battery life then the initial Juice Pack. When it runs out of "juice" it causes my cell phone to emit a rather irritating repeating beep despite the fact that the internal iphone battery still has service life remaining. So I have to remove it from its Air case to get it to stop. Sometimes it will stop by switching off the Air but not always. The Air takes more than an hour to recharge; the initial Juice Pack somewhat less but still disappointing. Now I have both. Yet despite which battery I'm using I'm still disappointed that there is not suitable leather case which the phone and its battery will fit within and which I can carry on my belt.

Improvements: (1) A good case; (2) a battery which will last me all day; and (3) one that will permit me to sync with my Apple computer directly using the standard iphone connection. Who thought a USB port would be suitable??? They should be immediately fired. Oh, the whole issue could be avoided when Apple comes out with a GREAT battery on its iphone that can be replaced while the iphone is in service - much like a laptop permits.

    Not perfect but close

I have had the JPA for 1 week and am quite happy with it.
I looked at the original Juice Pack 3G as well as the Incase Power Slider before I purchased the Air. On the original Juice pack, the rubber peeled off too easily and left the top of the phone exposed. The Power Slider is built well but is slightly bulkier than the JPA and tends to get quite hot during use.

I purchased the JPA for travel. I fly every week and needed a way to ensure the phone was charged when I landed. For this purpose, the JPA is a life saver.
My inaugural test took me from Portland, OR to Philadelphia, PA. I plugged iPhone into the JPA on my way to the airport and 10 hours later when I landed in Philadelphia, my Juice Pack still had about 35% of its charge left. During the flight I watched movies and played games the entire time with the brightness at about 45%.

    Pros:
    - Great design. Plastic feels solid and battery does not heat up.
    - Does exactly what it says it does.
    - The on/off switch is great so you can preserve the juice packs charge.
    - You can charge the pack and the iPhone at the same time.
    - You can sync the iPhone while still in the juice pack.

    Cons:
    - Uses a micro USB connection instead of a mini USB.
    - Top half of case is hard to remove for the first 3 days or so but this goes away soon enough.

Although the battery is not as large as the original Juice Pack, the significant improvement in the design is what sold me.

    Close to useless for me

    Written by JD from Decatur

I bought a Mophie Juice Pack Air case from the Apple store and then noticed a few hangups (no DC charging, etc.). I went back and told an Apple employee who promptly exchanged that case for the one I have now. The following are based on experience with two separate cases, not just one bad case.

First of all, micro USB? I don't think so. I have a set of universal USB adapters of which NONE match the proprietary USB cord that came with the case/battery. Which means that if you want to charge the thing (or your iphone) you have to use the supplied cable. (and my cable was about a foot long)
Speaking of charging, I plugged my iphone up in the car when it started dying on me (after depleting the case battery in a matter of hours) and the case would not charge off DC power. It wouldn't even let the iphone charge off the DC outlet. I happen to have an AC converter built into my car and tried that, it did charge but it doesn't have enough voltage to be safe.
Thirdly, and still on charging, is that it doesn't charge the iphone and the battery simultaneously. It charges the iphone first, and then charges the case battery. This means it takes twice as long to charge as they claim.
Fourth, the case battery drained in less than 10 hours today (80-90% of that on standby, the rest just checking email and time with NO CALLS), a far cry from the 270 hours standby they claim.
And fifthly (and most important to me), just having the phone inside the case (and not even plugged in the dock connector) reduces my signal by AT LEAST TWO BARS! Just having the iphone inside the case doubles the time to load google.com through an EDGE connection where I live.

KUDO: The design of the case at the bottom around the dock connector gets high praise from me. It makes any sound from the phone MUCH LOUDER! I was extremely happy with the quality and volume of sound coming out of the case. If you want an extra battery and a way to increase volume and very little else; this may be perfect for you.

I plan to return this item to the Apple store asap. I will use the $80 to buy a generic charging kit or something...maybe that nifty solar charger I saw.

Does work but cuts down signal power

Written by AY from SAN DIEGO

This battery pack/case does what it says and charges the iphone 3G great. However it also cuts down the cell phone signal power. Both my wife and I have iphones but only she has this case. I have full signal power and she has none when this case is on her phone. Also this case does not allow for charging the iphone without removing the case first. This is not a big deal but worth considering. More

    Wow!!! Great Battery Case

I just purchased this a week ago. I have not had any problems with signal loss or reception issues. The case works like it says it does. It truly works like stated. I charge it with my phone every night. Also I'm a big user during the day and listening to alot of music during the day. I had the incase power slider for six months and finally after two times of it messing up and switching out with incase I finally just got a refund and purchased the mophie juice pack air. I can run my iphone all day during work and then power the case on and the end of the day and still have plenty of battery life afterwards. More

I have the morphie juice pack, the Kensington batteries (both small and large types) and the Macally battery pack. This comes out tops for convenience (it fits as a csae as well as battery booster), style and sheer elegance. I have just ordered a second one today. CAUTION. I accidentally dropped my iPhone in its Juice Pack case and the top cover of the case has cracked - the battery still charges the iPhone but the crack catches my ear. Morphie should do replacement top covers to combat this scenario. More
