    Excellent Game!

If you actually take any time to master CivIV, you will just love CivIV and the Warlords expansion. The strategic depth is great, with the ability to customize cities to your strategy, and pursue a peaceful or war-like road to victory. This game is very addictive, so watch out. You'll find yourself playing turn after turn without noticing where all the time has gone.

Also consider getting CivIV : Beyond the Sword - the next expansion.

    Eh...

I was shopping for a strategy game more like starcraft, age of empires, and galactic battlegrounds. Civilization does not deliver. The game moves through time too fast. I played there marathon length game from the stone age to the modern age (finishing the game) in all of two days. You don't have nearly enough time to strategically place strong troops in enemy territory before there is a technological breakthrough giving the enemy for example, a marine, while I just stationed a 15th century grenadier outside his city. Also, it isn't the real time strategy I was expecting. There is no battlefield strategy. You attack one turn, the attack you the next. Overall it's not a bad strategy game, it's just not one worth buying. More
