    Fantastic Wireless All-in-One!

    Written by EB from Glendale

    Apr 16, 2009

Finally, an all-in-one printer that has real wireless connectivity with all the Macs in our house! I bought this on a whim, the first week it came out, and was pleasantly surprised to see that it does all that it promises. Setup was easy but a little slow (it took a while for software to install and the printer to callibrate). But I was able to connect via bluetooth and / or wi-fi from all of our computers (no USB cable needed, even for setup), and add it to our network for guests. For full wireless functions, I had to install the software on all computers, but scanning and faxing work like a charm. More

NOT WORTH THE PRICE IF YOU DON'T USE ALL THE FEATURES

    Written by BZ from metuchen

This Printer, Scanner, Fax, Copier, Photo Printer, Disc Labeler, -Need I say more?- is the best "All In One" Printer. When you connect the printer to your Network through the Ethernet Port on the back of the printer, and you install the software on all of your computers, you can use all of the features of the printer. It comes with the Ink and 3 pieces of Photo Paper. IT DOES NOT COME WITH A USB CABLE. When I noticed that it did not come with a USB cable I was like w-t-f new printer doesn't come with a USB cable, especially for a $300 Printer. Setup is not for amateurs, it takes a little knowledge and curiosity/Know-How to use all of the features. NOT WORTH THE PRICE IF YOU DON'T USE ALL THE FEATURES, buy a cheaper "All In One" if you don't plan on using everything it has to offer. It has a feature to save a document to the printer if you plan on printing the same document a lot. More

I purchased this to replace the HP 6500 series all in one...

This is the best made HP printer and overall all-in-one printer I have ever seen and owned; and I've had a lot. If you're looking for an all in one printer that has incredibly high quality pictures, fax, copy and scan and do it all wirelessly via either bluetooth or wifi, then this is your printer! Beautiful finish and high quality materials and fit n finish. No I don't work for HP or any printer company, just passionate about quality! BTW keep in mind with 5 ink cartridges, ink can be quite expensive! Buy the XL cartridges. More

Scanning does not work directly though HP software, but does thru Mac OS

    Written by AB from Stanford

    Dec 8, 2009

The HP software kept crashing, especially when we tried to scan it was impossible due to an unknown error. We got scanning to work fine by going through the Mac OS Print & Fax utility, selecting the printer (we deleted the two redundant ones, leaving only the one with the brackets/the default one), and then clicking Open Scanner. Once we got this working, we've been happy with this for its functionality and price. More

Devours ink. Quirky. Buy something else! Anything else! Writing it by hand would be less hassle.

Fast, clear printing but poor quality scans

    Written by KK from Rochester

    Dec 8, 2009

As a basic ink jet printer I like it included two sided printing and color printing. Fast printing and, for me, easy to set up on a LAN. Copying B & W documents works well. However, disappointed that none of the accompanying scanning software from HP integrates with Snow Leopard. Support article from HP re Snow Leopard compatibility fudges this by saying that this functionality is part of Snow Leopard at to use Preview or Image Capture instead of HP scanning software included with the device. Scan quality is so so in that glossy photos (e.g., school pictures) are noisy (white speckles). Overall a worse scanner than the 5 year scanner I was (and am now again) using. In short, if you do a lot of scanning you might be better off looking elsewhere especially for the price. I am. More

Scanning is supported a couple of ways in Snow Leopard:

    1) with HP software included in Snow Leopard. Use Preview or Image Capture applications. Under the File pull down menu, select 'import from scanner'.

    2) Full updated 10.6 software available from www.hp.com that includes updated HP Scan software

Fax is done through a phone line so you still need that wired. The wireless refers to wireless link with a router which is only for printing not sending faxes. More
