Iomega 1.5TB Prestige External Hard Drive
AWESOME PRODUCT-MOST RECOMMENDED--SUPER DURABLE AND RELIABLE--AND FAST TOO
Written by JS from West Linn

This if by far the most reliable and best hard drive I have ever owned.
This drive is USB 2.0 and is VERY fast
It is so reliable too. It never stops working. I accidently dropped this drive while it was running from 5 feet up. It didn't even dent or get a scratch. I started right back up and went back to work.
This is truly a work of art and a work or craftsmanship. In case you were wondering, I took the drive apart to find that it has a Samsung drive inside. It is all padded inside and everything. I HIGHLY recommend this hard drive. …More259 of 284 people found this useful

Iomega 1.5TB Prestige External Hard Drive
Perfect, just needs a better stand
Written by JE from Saint Johnsbury

The drive works very well, i partitioned it into three seperate drives, one for time machine, one for my iTunes Library, and one for FCP storage. It works excellently, my only wish is that it had FireWire, but you can't have everything.
My one complaint is that the stand it comes with is just awkward, it works, but barley.
Definitely go with this drive, i've been using mine for 8 months everyday and it's been spectacular. …More88 of 106 people found this useful

Iomega 1.5TB Prestige External Hard Drive
This drive is slow and loses connection! Im very disappointed!!!

I had high hopes regarding this drive based on previous reviews. Out of the box this hard drive was SLOW to respond. If I click a song in iTunes there is sometimes, but not always, a 3-10 second delay. The drive frequently loses computer connection. This is by far the most annoying hiccup. This can be very bad when working for hours on a file and trying to save it to said hard drive. I have lost hours of hard work because of this flaw. Its not my style to complain and I don't normally leave reviews for products, but I felt I just had to warn others about this product. …More

Serious Disappointment
Written by RE

I stopped using Iomega products several years ago (remember the infamous "click of death" infesting Iomega Zip drives?) But after reading positive reviews, I decided to get the Iomega 1.5TB Prestige external hard drive. This drive worked perfectly for about 3 weeks. Then one day, it stopped mounting consistently. Within a week, it wouldn't mount at all. While it was mounted, I tried reformatting it, thereby losing my backup, in the hopes of fixing the problem. Nothing worked! I'm very disappointed and I'm not buying Iomega drives again. …More

Best Answer
If you are using a Mac and having trouble writing to your external hard drive (copying or moving things to it), it may be because this particular hard drive comes preformatted to NTFS. In order for a Mac to be able to write to the drive, you should reformat the drive to HFS+ or FAT32. …More
