Yamaha PDX-30 Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone
The best sounding dock to a musician's ears
Written by TS from Mission Viejo

I've enjoyed my iPod on airplanes, at the gym and in other environments with a fairly high noise floor. Up to this point I hadn't found an amplified solution that sounded good to my ears in my office or kitchen where there wasn't so much background noise. I've purchased 2 iPod docks prior to this one and given them both away because I couldn't listen to them. I bought the Yamaha a week ago and it sounded great in my office, so I bought one for the kitchen as well. I'm a musician and admittedly very picky about sound quality, but the Yamaha sounds sweet and clear. Playing it in the kitchen last night my wife commented on how good it sounds (so it's not just me). Highly recommended. One tip I'd offer is to place the dock over a hard surface or close to a hard surface, which really improves the bass sound. …More

Yamaha PDX-30
Written by FT from amherst

I have enjoyed this unit for three days. Took it to work and did a comparison with the Bose portble ($399) We rated the units even in sound and quality. Bose advantage is portability and ability to plug in to other devices. The Yamaha advantage is $200 less cost and much better look and small footprint. These are not "Class A" audiophile units. They do produce great enjoyment with good sound quality that can be used in any environment. …More

Yamaha PDX-30 Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone
Best sounding iPod speaker
Written by RG from Carlsbad

I have tried almost every iPod speaker on the market and I can honestly say that the PDX-30 has the best bass I have ever heard in such a small size. If you are interested in ease of use, great sound, and a cool look, this is a great piece. Works perfect with my iPhone. …More

Yamaha PDX-30 Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone
Stunning sound quality, great price.

I recently got this, and was amazed by the deceptively small size compared to its immense volume and incredible sound quality. I find it perfect for a home ipod dock, and it will definitely be used for a long time to come. Even better, it was only about 200$. However, I have one small complaint, which is that it didn't specifically mention that you can't plug this into stuff other than ipods. However, compared to a Bose, the reduced price size and electricity needed to run this more than make up for it. It does what it claims to do, has AMAZING quality (in my opinion at least close to tying with, if not quite as good as, a Bose), has a good, functional remote, and is much cheaper than the other high-end speakers on the market. As a guitar player and ipod touch owner, I know that this will be used by me for a long time (also, it has a great warranty, so even if it doesn't last longer than a year and a half without breaking, I can still get it fixed). All in all, I highly advise this product and give it five stars. …More

Yamaha PDX-30 Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone
This Yamaha works!

I was looking for a quality speaker system for my ipod touch. I contemplated opting for the B & W "Zeppelin" model, but for $600, I had to be floored. When I checked it out at an Apple Store, I was not moved; good--but not great. I also decided to check out this Yamaha, since I researched it a bit, and it had solid reviews. It sounded good for such a little system. So I took it home. I listen to bass(ey) music such as ska, reggae, jazz and punk rock, so its emphasis on the lows was appreciated. This unit has a nice, clean aesthetic and will not be visually intrusive in any decor setting. I also really dig the fact that it charges my ipod. The remote is quite "functional" and visually appealing as well. I will give you some helpful advice--since this unit is a "bass reflex" design, it will sound much sweeter if you can place it near a wall, or better yet, a corner wall. I did this and the sound quality was kicked up 50%! For $200 this Yamaha is the best value you will find-go for it. …More
