Griffin Navigate Inline Controller and FM Radio for iPhone and iPod nano
Navigate maximizes convenient control of your iPod. It has control buttons your fingers can easily locate by touch, and it restores the tactile feedback of the iconic click wheel to touchscreen models.
- Remote control and radio for iPhone and iPod
- Display screen shows info from your iPod
- Navigate playlists, EQ, and shuffle mode
- FM stereo radio with four station presets
Overview
About the size of a pack of matches, Navigate gives you an information screen, play controls, power, volume and EQ controls, and an FM stereo radio.
Compact convenience
Tuck your iPod out of sight, but keep controls close at hand. For iPhone, just plug Navigate into the dock connector then connect any headphones with 3.5mm stereo mini-jack to listen and talk.
Navigate with iFM
Griffin's standalone radio interaction program, iFM, will integrate seamlessly with Navigate. iFM identifies your geographic location and automatically populates a tuning menu with local radio stations (or, you can choose your city from a list). It's available soon from the iTunes App Store.

Radio is great... but...

Some of the information is a bit misleading about the use of the device with the iPhone. You plug your headphones into the Navigate device and you can listen to music from the iPhone or the FM radio, but you CANNOT use the headphones/mic to use the iPhone as a phone this way. You HAVE to remove the headphones from the Navigate and plug them back into the iPhone as normal to use the phone. A big inconvenience and sort of defeats the purpose of me purchasing this device. I thought I could listen to FM radio and take incoming calls without having to do anything else, but that is not how it works. …More

Griffin Navigate Inline Controller and FM Radio for iPhone and iPod nano
too expensive for what it is
Written by CP from HOLLAND

Ive been waiting for a remote control for my iphone 3G ever since I bought it in Aug., and this remote control does everything Id hoped it would do: volume control, skips backwards/forwards through tracks, it even has the ability to fast forward/rewind within tracks useful for podcast consumers. Additionally, it has a screen that scrolls track info. If you are using your iphone as an ipod, youll never have to take it out of your pocket again (answering calls is a more complex matter, but that's not what this remote is for)!
However, the design seems excessively cheap; it's entirely made of very light-weight plastic, and the buttons feel like they could pop off the remote at any moment. Given the fact the remote costs almost $60, you would think it would be a little more solid.
Furthermore, when the music stops, there is a constant buzz; despite the fact that Griffin claims that it is an iphone accessory, every time you plug it in, the iphone displays a dialogue box suggesting that you go into airplane mode (this would presumably stop the buzzing, but in that case you might as well just carry an ipod).
Im planning on keeping mine until something better comes along. But given the cost, you might want to think twice about buying it.

Just what I was looking for!
Written by CW from West Sayville

I was looking for dedicated music controls to change songs on my iPhone 3G without having to look at the screen, and this does just the trick! Unlike the other reviewer, my iPhone didn't display any incompatibility warnings, and I haven't received any odd noises while using it. Yes, it IS plastic, but it feels sturdy enough in my hands. Not a bad buy at all, and the radio functionality is a nice bonus :-) …More
