This software is simply excellent

Great product. I've been using Billings 2 for over a year for my small design shop and just upgraded to Billing 3. Its easy to use and helps keep track of everything from client contacts, to time spent on individual jobs, to accounts receivable.
The software has some good invoice templates, but being a design firm and all, it was super easy to design our own custom invoice.
Everything works great and is designed for the Mac Now if Marketcircle would only make accounting software so I didn't have to drudge through Quickbooks, I'd be ecstatic. I highly recommend Billings! …More56 of 62 people found this useful

Great billing software.
Written by GS from Charleston

I have been using this software for about 6 months now for some computer/network work I do on the side. It has been great and is really easy to work with.
Like the other reviewer said the invoice layouts are easy to create, so if the provided templates don't do it for you just make your own. I found this very usefull when adding information into an invoice that none of the standard templates included.
From what I have read on the Billings website, there should be an iPhone companion coming soon that will allow you to keep track of your hours from your iPhone and sync it.
There are some features I think should be added. I went to the forums on the website and the Billings staff have read and responded to requests for features. Some of these old requests have shown up in Billings 3, and the staff has indicated that they are doing everything possible to include the commonly requested features. One of these I would love to see is the ability to print a receipt. With the current version you can see one displayed on your screen when you add a payment, but the only way to print something out for the customer is to print an account summary.
My final reccomendation: buy this software if you need an easy way to create professional invoices. …More35 of 40 people found this useful

No "balance carried forward" feature for invoices

Billings does what it does nicely, but lacks the ability to "carry forward" an unpaid balance from one invoice to the next.

Previous Balance Feature Works
Written by RC from Richmond Hill
Jul 15, 2009
Just wanted to chime in on behalf of Marketcircle to let you guys know that you can in fact include a previous balance on an invoice.
To show the previous balance on an invoice:
1) In the Invoice window, click the Preview tab.
2) Click Options.
3) Select the Show previous balance checkbox.
4) Click OK.
We agree that this feature is a little hidden and we're sorry that you missed it we're working on making it more apparent to the user. …More7 of 8 people found this useful

Basically USELESS for Real World (where folks don't pay on time)

No carried forward balance feature. WHAT??? Folks who wrote this not particularly business savvy. On Earth where I come from folks sometimes pay LATE so it's sometimes necessary to carry forward an unpaid balance to a subsequent invoice. Perhaps on Pluto this is not an issue. …More

Great visually, missing some
Written by OB from Rolling Meadows

This is a great software for "very" small businesses, especially sole propreitorships where you bill for your hours. However, it is missing a lot of components to replace my financial software. Even a small payroll unit would work where you can pay your workers and see your income, expenses, and net income, etc. …More
