This is by far the best racing game to ever come to Mac. If you like Gran Turismo, you will love this one, it is very similar . Definitely need a game controller to keep up, I couldn't pass the 2nd race until I connected my old iShock. So far I am 12% through the challenges and I look forward to continuing on. I might invest in a wheel set-up and really enjoy. The range of cars is awesome, from sandrails to Indy cars and everything in between. Each new car presents a new learning curve on how to drive it. Power to weight ratios, tires sizes, suspension styles; I have yet to see a game deliver like this one.
I have tried many racing games for the Mac. My first Apple was the Apple II+.

It is a great game, with many many hours of racing and -- as far as I know -- very accurate.

Not a big leap from CMR mac

I have Colin McRae Rally mac, and I'm not bashing this product because it doesn't work at all on my G5 iMac... I can run it on my 2.4Ghz macbook.
But for a game that only runs on the latest Intel macs, one would think to expect more. In comparison to a game that runs on a G5 (I'm talking about CMR mac), RaceDriver 3 fails to impress:
- Graphics are not any better. In fact, the graphics look even more 'flat' here than they do in Colin McRae rally !
- Damage and dirt modeling seems... well... not as spectacular. In CMR you -REALLY- see your car get dirty and damaged. Here... there's not much, until you really total you car -- and even then it doesn't -feel- damaged enough!
- I couldn't get 900º steering support on my G25 wheel. I've seen someone else post they did. I hope I'm just not doing something right, because this game is SUPPOSED to have 900º support!
- Rally cars and Touring cars are different animals indeed -- but even with the offroad tracks in the demo, it just doesn't -feel- like you're bouncing around on the dirt like you should. And the dirt doesn't even look like dirt -- it looks like a tiled wooden floor you're racing on (feels like it too)!
To be honest, I was expecting this to be a lot more than Colin McRae Rally was. It isn't. I'm still glad I had bought CMR when I did, and CMR is still more exhilarating to play than this newer game by Feral is! …More17 of 32 people found this useful
