Learn moreOverview
The Bluebird is a large-diaphragm cardioid condenser that uses Blue Microphone’s renowned microphone technology and Class-A discrete circuit.
In a departure from its normally application-specific designs, Blue engineered the Bluebird to be as versatile as possible, with applications ranging from vocals to electric and acoustic guitars, close-miking of drums, drum overheads, percussion, piano, horns, strings, or any other situation where crystal-clear sound quality and detail is an absolute requirement.
In addition to the microphone itself, the Bluebird also includes a specially designed shockmount--the BirdCage--and a metal mesh pop filter--the BirdNest. So no matter what your sound, the complete Bluebird package offers you a top-notch recording experience at an outstanding price.

Awesome for Home Studio Use.

It is just a great sounding mic. It has a very detailed sound to it. It's especially great on vocals and acoustic guitar, but for the most part it makes anything you put into it sound good. Paired with a decent preamp, running through an apogee duet, you're on your way to professional sounding recordings. …More

Beautiful Product

I love Blue's designs. The retro design looks cool, the sound quality is great, and construction seems robust enough for everyday home use. The only problem I've experienced is that I over tightened the thumbscrew on the bird cage and broke off the thumb tab. It's under warranty so I don't think there will be a problem getting a replacement. …More

It falls apart. But it still sounds good. You decide...

I was thrilled with the quality of sound when using this mic with big voices. The only problem is that the shock prevention housing has fallen apart twice within three months with little to no adjusting. Literally, fallen apart. Sure, they have replaced it once already, however, the down time and inconvenience is infuriating considering this is not a small purchase. And yes, I am positive I am using it correctly. Please understand, if you are looking for quality sound, I would STILL recommend this mic. It is everything else about the mic I would throw in the garbage. …More

Brilliant!

I just bought a Bluebird this weekend and I was astounded at the presence in my vocals, and the crystal clarity which it delivers. You can not beat this price right now at $299.00... you could spend $300.00 on the extras that you get with the microphone alone. I am in love with Blue products and will not ever buy anything else.

You are correct that you don't *need* a preamp. But many of us still want one. Put a nice mic through a sweet pre, and then you've got somethin'. I run my Chandler pre thru my Duet every chance I get. ;) …More
