Overview
LoJack for Laptops is a recovery service that enables law enforcement to retrieve stolen laptops. When you use this service, software installed on your laptop works behind the scenes to silently and securely contact Absolute Software's Monitoring Center, and in case of theft, to report its location using any Internet connection.
Should your laptop be stolen, Absolute Software's Recovery Team not only tracks its location but also partners with local law enforcement to recover and return your laptop to you.
As an added piece of mind, with LoJack Premium, the remote data detetion option will keep your sensitive data safe.
How LoJack for Laptops works:
- You install the Computrace LoJack for Laptops software and register on Absolute Software's secure website.
- Your laptop silently and securely contacts the Monitoring Center when connected to the Internet.
- If your laptop is stolen, you file a police report and notify the Recovery Team. When your stolen laptop contacts the Monitoring Center, it's placed on high alert and starts calling in every 15 minutes, allowing the Recovery Team to closely track your laptop's location.
- The Recovery Team then provides law enforcement with tracking information and documentation essential for procuring search warrants and leading them to the location of your laptop.
- Law enforcement recovers your laptop and returns it to you.

A must have for professionals or Students
If you always have your laptop with you or worry about your laptop at home this is a must! This is incredible. I have this product but never had my laptop stolen but my cousin had her laptop recovered after it was stolen from her car. The thief was punished for breaking and entering and stealing her laptop and digital camera. Anyone can steal a laptop but your laptop can "tell on" its kidnaper with this software. Just make sure you have a dummy user account for the thief to access with no password so he or she doesn't wipe all the software off before lojack can do its thing. …

I love my new MacBook Pro, and I'd hate for anything to happen to it...so I got Lojack for Laptops. It's not expensive, was incre dibly easy to install, and now I have peace of mind in case it's ever stolen. I also read recently that many laptops are stolen from homes, so I'm also protected there. If your computer is stolen, the software sends a tracking signal - the Lojack guys then work with local law enforcement to catch the bad guys and get your computer back. I wouldn't send a kid to college without it! …

i just wanted to correct you, apple doesn't allow lo jack to be in the bios/flash memory... so if th ey reformat the hard drive it will go away. I'm a professor at University of California, and i teach a course on security... i do a lab were they must install lo jack on a mac, and lo jack is just like any other program, it doesn't have any special bios/flash place where you can store it, if the hard drive gets reformatted...
So this is true if you have a password, so if your laptop is stolen it won't be able phone home, because the theft won't be able to login to the internet. …- Answered by Arian F from Merced
