Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones from Monster
Beats by Dr. Dre can't beat the competition
Written by JN from phoenix

Unfortunately, the majority of audio consumers have been brain washed with the likes of mediocre products such as Bose, and headphones like these. First of all, no offense to Dr. Dre, but stay away from audio equipment endorsed by celebrities, What's next, Hannah Montana headphones? Let's start with the sound, nothing special here, especially for $350. Highs are not there and bass is far from controlled. Do yourself a favor and do some research in names like Sennheiser, AKG, & Grado. These brands will give you professional sound reproduction and at less than half the cost of the "Beats" phones. Bottom line, research and choose wisely. Your ears will thank you in the end. …More

Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones from Monster
Brutally overpriced
Written by BS from Savannah

Very colored, hyped at the high and low end, and only begin to wake up with Hip-hop and Rap only. (Go figure, a headset created in collaboration with a rap producer.) The average joe will listen to them and might be impressed because of the qualities I described in them and then they will see Monster and Dr. Dre on the box and will scrounge every last penny to get a pair and go on thinking they are the best headphones on the market. "I paid $350 for these and they are by Monster, they must be undeniably good." Along the same exact lines that Bose does with their QC2s and the incessant hype commercials on TV.
I now have a much better understanding of exactly who these are marketed to and it is too bad that they screwed up such a great concept by being so cheap. Ideally they would have been more reasonably priced, designed and sound significantly better. They want to awaken the average joe to how moving good sound quality can be and develop an appreciation for fidelity in audio and with such an easily recognizable name they could get that exposure. I think we all get it but it is like trying to convince a vegan to eat an overcooked $3 steak. OK, so not that bad, they do have their moments when they sound nice but there must be some sort of on-the-fly adjusting DSP built into them because the SQ seems to vary even in the same song.
The packaging is quite smart because it is fairly well designed and clever which adds to the illusion of a "quality" product. Once you hold them in your hands you can tell they are cheaply made. The design of the actual headphones is nice but holding them in your hands alone instantly tells you that they should cost ~$100 at most.
Back to the sound, they are very forward and exhibit distortion in the strangest frequencies even at low levels, yet exaggerate others. (It is almost as if the frequency response curve is a roller coaster.) There is a lot of bass and every now and then it can sound nice but it seems you feel the drivers through the ear cups more than you hear the actual output. To briefly sum up the overall SQ, they sound synthetic.
Now, they aren't horrible and they will absolutely smoke stock earbuds and headphones that come with portable players but it is the people coming from lower end sound gear that Monster is hoping these will appeal to. …More1507 of 2023 people found this useful

Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones from Monster

When I received this as a gift, being an avid music nut I fully appreciated the quality and comfort styling. But to be perfectly honest the cost is excessive for this product.I myself would not buy it and I am sure could find something just as good in quality for alot less.So if you can blow the money go ahead, but for those needing value as well as quality keep looking. …More

These headphones are decent but I still prefer my bose earbuds to these over priced headphones that are endorsed by a rapper.

Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones from Monster
The Only Review You Will Need
Written by SB from Roslyn Heights

Sound Quality- You would think this of all things would be the most important aspect of a pair of headphones. Not so with there. I have a paid $150 for a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50's, and they sound better. Not to say the Beats are terrible, they are don't measure up to other headphones in this price range. These will only blow away people used to stock earbuds, etc. 7/10.
Looks- Amazingly sleek and awesome. Just look at the pictures.
Build Quality- Wobbly, unstable, and every time you close them- they make a horrible snapping sound. It feels like you will break them! My left cup slides down all the time. Don't feel like $300 dollar headphones should. 6/10
Comfort- Amazing! Sit on your head perfectly, and enclose your ears. Your ears will never get sweaty, and you will want to wear them for hours on end. A little heavy for headphones but the comfort makes up for it. 10/10.
Noise Canceling- Creates a slight pressure on your ears, uncomfortable at first, but you get used to it. I don't fly often, but I used them on the bus today. Steady frequencies in the lower range are totally canceled. Mid-range and high frequencies are barely muffled. Voices are still there, as are any sudden noises. Only long frequencies (engines, air conditioners, etc.) are affected at all. Bose QC15's do a better job in this category, but create more pressure than the beats. With music all noises are gone, so I don't care. Bose QC15's actually cancel too much. You can't listen to music without the noise canceling on, which requires two AAA batteries. Creates a soft white noise in the background which you quickly forget about. 9/10.
Accessories- Lackluster cleaning cloth, airplane adapter, and horribly manufactured "iSoniTalk" cable. Hard case is ok. 3/10.
Price- These headphones are worth $150. I would consider $200 if I really needed the noise canceling (if I traveled a lot). I know it might be overwhelming, but consider other headphones from brands like Sennheiser, AKG, Grado, etc. They have double the sound quality for half the price.
Who does this appeal to? It appeals to "hip" people ages 10-25. Kids see celebrities or whoever endorses these. It is the "hot" product. Monster charges a ridiculous amount for one reason- people will pay it to look cool. This product has genius marketing behind it, but no actual substance.
Final Thoughts- I returned these. Getting studio headphones made much more sense. Sound that ACTUALLY sound like it does in the studio. Why? Because that is what they made the song on! Not Beats! They cost about half as much, and last forever. They are build solid and have anywhere from 2 to 10 years of warranty. They are actually respected among the audio world, not just fashion accessories. If that doesn't convince you, maybe this will. If you buy a pair of ATH-M50 headphones, they are around 150 dollars. They will sound better, and last longer. What would you buy with the $150 you save?
This was a long review, but I was completely honest. Please rate this review up, so people can read a real review. I didn't bash the Beats, or mindlessly praise them. I gave praise where it was due, and pointed out the flaws. It is up to you to decide. …More18 of 18 people found this useful

I Love these headphones
Written by RD from union city

If you want headphones just for walking around, then these are for you. But if you want to use these for a studio, i suggest you dont get them. The build of these is very cheap, but the sound quality is oustanding. I got mine on black friday and so far there are no problems with them. Although sound leaks crazy, who really cares? Just remember to take good care of them, put them in the case when your not using them, and turn the power switch off.
Overall i love these headphones. I used to have the normal ipod headset and when i heard these in the store i was blown away. It gives you alot of attention when you walk around with them LOL …More6 of 9 people found this useful

is it worth the money?

Not really no. They are so cheaply made, they bleed so much noise and break so easily. I estimate they cost about 30 quid to make.
You can buy a set of Dj headphones for 120 quid that are as good as these and sound as good, only you dont get the noise cancellation. Thats all these headphones are good for.
They do go loud, but are not 'better' than bose, or any other headphone for that matter. I have six pairs of high end headphones, inc bose, and i would not say these are 'better', as they are all designed to do different things, so it would be wrong to compare them.
Everyone wants these because celebrities and footballers wear them, thats all, and because they go 'loud', people get the illusion they are 'great' and have 'great sound quality'. They are very comfy to wear, but like i say, cheaply made. Mine are already going back for repair. However, they are a nice looking, comfy, loud set of cans. I paid £219 for mine. …More- Answered by AH from bracknell
