Learn moreOverview
Play any way you choose in the five evolutionary phases of SPORE: Cell, Creature, Tribe, Civilization, and Space. Each unique phase presents different challenges and goals. You may choose to start in Cell and nurture one species from its humble aquatic origins to its evolution as a sentient species. Or decide to start building tribes or civilizations on multiple planets.
How you play and what you do with your universe is entirely up to you. SPORE gives you a variety of powerful yet easy-to-use creation tools so you can create every aspect of your universe: creatures, vehicles, buildings, and even starships.
While SPORE is a single-player game, your creations and other players’ creations are automatically shared between your galaxy and theirs, providing a limitless number of worlds to explore and play. You can also visit the SPORE website and look at all the cool things your friends and people all around the world are making--then pull them into and make them a part of your own world.

Doesn't work with Parental Controls
Written by AL from Hauser

Installed and tested the game as admin, then tried to let the child play under a different account managed with Parental Controls.…Read more
The game would not start for the Parental Controls account. Would just abort with "Cannot contact the licensing server. Try again later." Called EA tech support that evening and got sent into a maze of teleprompts that ended with "We are now closed. Please call during business hours."
I found a post that said you can (as admin) right click Spore.app in Applications folder, Show Package Contents, go into Macos folder, and delete the cider_noui file and then the game will start for the child. True it does start, but this is going to break again at the next patch/update.
This game is a stupid waste of money.(2 of 2 people found this review useful)

I played this game for quite a bit down at the Penny Arcade Expo, and was enthralled by it. It truly is a masterpiece in the maki…Read moreng. I was particularly intrigued by the depth of the open world, and the level of detail put into almost every part. When you are at the lower levels of the food chain, and are scavenging for food, it seems as if you could explore anything and see the level of work put into the game. The games ability to bring you to a microscopic level without resorting to a side scrolling adventure really set it apart for me. Up, down, side to side, and every angle of your environment could be explored. I look forward to delving deeper into the game with my own copy soon enough.
