SAMSUNG HDTV? OTHER CABLES NOT WORKING? TRY THIS!
Written by LB from SAN FRANCISCO
Dec 10, 2008
I purchased this cable today as a last resort to two previous failings to connect my unibody Macbook Pro to my 26'Samsung LCD HDTV. My tv has a VGA connection, two HDMI inputs as well as the standard component and composite connections. I initially bought the Mini Display Port to VGA converter assuming it would work like the last iteration of MBP which used DVI (I utilized the DVI to VGA cable which came standard) This did not work at all, as many Samsung owners have experienced. I then tried the Mini Display to DVI and added a DVI to VGA converter. This gave me the same results. Alas I found my final successful solution... the HDMI to DVI cable. Great resolution as well as much more choice in the display settings panal. In my experience, this is the only solution as of yet until either Apple or Samsung figure out a direct connection between Mini Display and their HDTV's. I'd like to thank the San Francisco store for helping to come to this solution. …More

I have always wanted to connect my computer to a television, so when I got my MacBook, i knew i had to do this! Since i could not do Components with the new MacBook, i decided to go HDMI. WHAT A GREAT DECISION! Crystal clear display and vivid colors with the television in my basement along with great resolution! Now all i need is some audio cables and i am set (yes, you do not get audio through the display cords...)!
Just be sure that you have what you need before you buy this...

I was lucky to have the 'old' Macbook Pro from earlier this year, which comes with a DVI port. Well this cable connected without any problem to my Sharp Aquos 42 inch LCD flat panel. Awesome! Can stream Itunes video using the audio system, excellent quality. An inexpensive and very functional solution! Am ordering another cable as a backup just in case... …More

Why no DVI to DVI old school cables anymore for Powerbook?
Written by GB from FORT ATKINSON
Sep 7, 2009
I always thought they were all HDMI connectors but alas the new mini adapters, DVI and HDMI are all different it seems.
Apple used to sell what I thought was an HDMI but fit into my older aluminum G4 Powerbook and went into my new Philips TV which has both DVI and HDMI adapters as it turns out. Now the larger multi pin is called a DVI apparently.
The one I bought at the apple store Pasadena CA had the larger, now what's called, DVI and fit into my G4 Powerbook and went to another DVI. This works great but my friend, who also has an older Powerbook can't find it on the store any more so what's the dang deal Apple? I love the white Apple plugs and don't want to buy 3rd party. …More1 of 1 people found this useful

Works GREAT

I have had this cable for almost a year now and I use it on a daily basis to watch movies from my MAC -> my TV. This is a very handy cable and as long as you have Audio cables to add to it, it stores well in my MAC Book Pro carrying case, so when I travel I have the easy option to view my own movies in the hotel.
GREAT BUY and Excellent quality. …More16 of 18 people found this useful

whats the difference between the belkin hdmi to dvi cable and the extrememac extreme hd hdmi to dvi cable?
- Asked by RM from canmore

Best Answer
These digital cables have different transfer speeds depending on the quality. The extreme should probably be better (high capacity). I think the speeds can range from 5.5Gb/s to 15.3Gb/s. The higher the speed the better picture quality you get. But it depends on your player and your TV. …More
