This app works just fine - those saying that it will not boot recent model macs must be using the pirated version. It boots just fine with the boot DVD which is included in the retail version. I have a Penryn MBP (latest model at the time of this post) and it boots the DVD and performs all of the maintenance functions without issue. It's a little slow, yes - but you're booting from the DVD drive. What else do you expect!? …More

Amazing Company

I have to say that I have been involved and have used computers and software since the Commodore 64 starting in the late 70's. In all of my years I have never dealt with a company so responsive, so easy to deal with, so pleasant to have an actual human being to talk to when the company answers the phone and the software actually works as advertised. This is the second time I have called Prosoft and its the second time I have been completely blown away by the service. I beg you, when you become a big company please don't change your ways. My hard drive had become sluggish by the constant in and out of various files and my Aperture library had grown to almost 40Gb. I needed a reliable way to defragment the drive without risking my photo files. Thanks Drive Genius, you came to the rescue. Drive Genius 2.2.1 for Mac Intel

I upgraded my old copy of Drive Genius 2 for my 2 Intel machines at the school I work at. I needed an upgrade to be compatible with SNow Leopard OS. I received a link to download a dmg file to make a bootable disc. I didn't burn it right and wasted a couple of DVDs. I contacted Tech help and they responded with the correct info and the DVD was burned flawflessly. Only problem was I found you should read all drections before doing stuff. I thought I was a seasoned user and fairly smart....not so. I decided to do a full optimization and defrag my hard drive (which really didn't need it).....I neglected to disable the sleep mode (as it said in the instructions I did not read). Cause a big problem becasue the HD would not remount after the process. Had to initialize the HD and reinstall everything. Luckily I backed up with TimeMachine and the resore process was perfect. Drive Genius Tech support was very helpful and supportive. I have used Norton and TechTool Pro in the old days and now I would only use Drive Genius for my Macs......just read stuff first so you don't make problems for yourself. …More

This product works just as advertised. Its a solid solution to get a backup of your hard disc especially if its your boot drive.
