I have been using Intego Peronal Backup X5, Net Barrier X5, Virus Barrier X5 for some years. I currently am running them on a G4 Laptop and G5 Desktop with OS 10.4.11. I have never had a problem with any of their products and have always had quick response by email if I had a question. My experience is they have been superior. Great interface and updated regularly and easily. Intego produces 5 star products in my opinion. I also have Super Duper which is excellent backup software but I sort of lean to Intego Personal Backup. …More

Personal Backup X5

I just switched from SilverKeeper to Integro Personal Backup after SilverKeeper locked up my disk. I wish that I had switched earlier! Personal Bakcup has easy to use scripts and supports multiple scripts. It can run during the night, although you can also use the computer during a backup. I appreciate being able to download it to try it out before buying it. My only problem is that I get an error message on every Appleworks file (ending in .cwk). I have gotten fast response to my emails, but the solution seems to be to ignore the messages. The files are backed up correctly in spite of the messages. …More

Intego Personal Backup X5
Works great on USB/Firewire Attached Storage... NAS, not so much!

I have been using this product for about a year now and like the Intego product line as well as their support. However, I've run into a snag that I can't seem to rectify in that the NAS device I connect to, cannot be used as a backup device using Personal Backup X5. It maps to the drive, connects and even verifies its there using the "Test" button but when you run the script, it fails every time. When I had a drive connected via Firewire or USB, I had no issues, only when I added the NAS drive do I have problems. I haven't had a successful backup in about 3 months and no rationale behind why yet.
If you're going to connect a USB/Firewire drive directly to your computer, this is a great product. If you're considering using a NAS, forget it... at least for now. …More13 of 13 people found this useful
