    B&O E3 - Best so far!!

    Written by MM from Tiburon

    Apr 16, 2008

I've tried several headsets (Vibe, Bose, Apple, Sure, etc.) for the iPhone and I've never been completely satisfied. In fact, I've spent more money on the headsets than I have on my iPhone. This headset is hands down the best I have used thus far. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the in ear noise cancelling headphones, they pop out, don't seal properly and you hear every cord vibration when you move; not to mention you can not hear ambient noise (somewhat dangerous).

The B&O E3 do cost a bit more, but given I have several sets that I don't use and I've purchased 3 pair of the apple headsets (cheaply made), cost is a relative issue. The build quality on the E3 appears to be very high and they adjust to fit any ear, very impressive design. I have yet to see if the cord at the mini pin connector will last, those seem to wear out quickly on all the headsets, fortunately that is repairable.

    Pros:
    - All the functions of the original apple headset (play, pause, call pick-up, end, etc.)
    - Fit & Comfort, these are extremely comfortable. No ear fatigue and they don't fall out. B&O, amazing design (they look pretty cool to).
    - Sound Quality is excellent, including the microphone

    Cons:
    - The right ear cord has to go behind your neck or hang in front, you get use it quickly.

If your having trouble finding a headset and you want that need button (call answer/end, play/ pause), try these out. I think you will be satisfied, I know I am.

Finally, I am done trying headphones for the iPhone...

The included iPhone set hurt my ears after a few minutes. My V-Modas broke and had no button. The Bose with the iPhone adapter were too long. The Shure 210s had to go uncomfortably deep in my ear to sound good and the mic from the adapter was too far from my mouth.

The B&O EarSet 3 are as good as it gets for the iPhone. Great sound, barely can feel they are on. Mic works well, is placed close to your mouth and the button is easy to click. If you are discerning and own an iPhone this is the set to get. I have tried many.

These are the Headphones You Want

After trying three different pairs of headphones, these are the ones to keep. Sound quality is superb, detailed and rich. The fit is REALLY comfortable, and the integration to the iPhone is flawless. For what they do, I think they are very reasonably priced. More

    Bad Design

I'm on my second set of these. Although they have the best sound quality of any of the speaker like headphones that I've tried in the end they just don't hold up. The wire for the earphone that goes behind your head has now pulled out from the mike/controller just like the first set did. More

    Avoid Like the Plague

Written by CL from Santa Monica

It is such a shame that a product with such good sound quality and a well constructed ear clip, would have such a poor wire casing. Believe me, if you buy this head set you will see the copper wire and it will fall apart on you in little time. I know this because it has happened to me one three different sets. (Every time it does, I go down to my local Apple store and I buy a new set, wait a few days, swap-out the old broken set in the box, and then I take back the box for a full cash refund.)

There are two other flaws. One is with the uneven length wires that branch from the Y-configuration (note to all headset designers: DO NOT EVER DO THIS). This always creates uneven tension and discomfort as the center wire gets tugged from time to time. The other flaw is with the oversized microphone disk on the left side. If you where a collared shirt, this will snag on the collar creating a annoying remainder that you hate this pair of headphones.

    Great sound poor construction

    Written by RR from MERCED

I think this is the best earphones on the market as far as sound and comfort go. My complaint is the vinyl chord. Although I'm sure it's cheaper to make after a while the chords start to twist and become very uncomfortable. In my past experience I have found that the fabric chords are much my comfortable and do not twist. Also if they provided a clothing clip below the mic the left ear chord would be less likely to pull away from the mic button when the chord snags on something which it frequently does. Try looking at Audio Technica ATH-Em7. Fit isn't that great around the ear but very nice sound with fabric chord.
