Bought this with my new Macbook. Works great and feels great. However, it died after about a year of use.

Kensington Si300 Laser Wired Mouse
Flakey performance
Written by RW from Chandler

I really like the design of this mouse but I had two problems:
1. It took me about a week (incl. tech support) to figure out that a flat black neoprene mousepad would cause the laser to get bad readings - and the mouse pointer would wander around the screen on its own. NOTE: This mouse has an invisible laser (no red light). I had used the same pad with red laser mice and not had any problems.
2. Four weeks into using it, and the pointer sporadically stops moving and the computer thinks the mouse has been disconnected. Unplugging it and plugging it in again so far has fixed the problem but it shouldn't be happening. Need to call tech support again.

Written by IA from Westfield

I bought this mouse for everyday use, and found it worked fine, until the second day. After the second day the connection between the mouse and the computer was on and off, and barely worked. After a week, i contacted them and got a new mouse. The new one worked better for 2 weeks, and now it is broken again and i am really really ticked. …More

re: Works well for me, and has always worked well.

I don't know how this mouse performs with laptops, but I know I've been using it for around three years and had no problems with functionality. The laser tracking works just fine (and I've used three mousepads in the last few years), and the scroll wheel is both sensitive and easy to control.
It's not perfect; I find this mouse a bit too tall in shape. But for under $30, I'd say it's more than recouped its cost, and it's still working just fine. I do a lot of video editing and it's always been sensitive, robust and reliable enough for the precision operations I do all the time. …More7 of 7 people found this useful
