Kensington SlimBlade Trackball Mouse
Pretty Great, but not Perfect
Written by LH from Elverson

I'm not sure what problems other people are having with Leopard, but this mouse has been working for me. The only issue I've had is that every once in a while it loses the bluetooth pairing and I have to reset it. It does this about once or twice a week, which is annoying, but not egregiously so. It takes me all of about 20 seconds to reset the paring using system tools.
As someone else had written, this mouse has a very solid feel, and I really really like the trackball. I've never liked using the scroll function on most mice because the scroll wheels caused finger fatigue for me. However, the trackball on this operates very smoothly and requires zero effort .
The accuracy of the mouse is excellent. The styling and color selection is very nice. The black area around the side is a rubber grip area which is also really nice and helps you hold the mouse more solidly than mice with smooth plastic surfaces.
The two knocks I have are 1) the bluetooth pairing issue mentioned above and 2) I really want two more buttons. Perhaps one on each side. It would be cool if you could push down on the trackball and make that a button, but I'm not sure if that is possible. Anyway, I would like to be able to use these extra buttons for Expose and Spaces. I always have multiple Windows running and also have VMWare fusion with a Windows instance for some consulting work that requires it. I know its sacrilegious to desire more than 1 button in the Mac world, but I could make effective use of them.
I have looked around for bluetooth mice that have more buttons, but they don't seem to have the same solid feel of this mouse, nor do they have the very very smooth trackball. Kensington, if you're reading this, please offer a Trackball2 with more buttons please. …More160 of 238 people found this useful

Kensington SlimBlade Trackball Mouse
A fan currently raving
Written by JB from San Jose

Even though I'm a Mac user, I prefer to "right click." This mouse is great so far. It glides really well across the mousepad or deskpad (I use it on both). Could have something to do with the little smooth feet on it. The trackball is a little bit larger than the stock Apple mouse, and feels a lot more solid. It makes a little electronic clicking sound as you scroll with it. It paired easily and I was using it minutes after the delivery truck drove away. It's a lot more solid and weighty than I was expecting, which I like. I did not like reading that it was a travel mouse - it made me wonder if it'd be light and cheap-feeling. But not at all - I'll use it as my primary desktop mouse. My only problem so far is that I haven't been able to get the trackball feature to work yet. I haven't read the manual, and I AM using the mouse with a G4 Powerbook running Tiger. So I give it four stars so far because it didn't "just work" like the rest of the mouse. Perhaps it only works with Leopard and new Intel-Macs. That said, I'm thinking about buying one for my secretary and my wife. So far I'm not just a fan of it - but a raving fan. …More

Written by SR from Freeport

All i can say is wow!The precision on this mouse hands down is a lot more accurate than the mighty mouse.I went through 2 mighty mice in less than a year!I have used the trackball mouse before(USB VERSION) and it was allot better when doing graphic design.Well the user interface of this mouse is more than friendly!a double click behind the trackball will make the mouse instantly switch from using the full mouse to using the trackball and vice versa.I Highly recommend this mouse! …More

Kensington SlimBlade Trackball Mouse
Overall a good mouse
Written by VK from BUTLER

I really like this mouse - I wanted an alternative to my mighty mouse and since I have always liked Kensington's products, I gave this a try. I have no problem with it connecting and it does not seem to loose connection. It takes a bit of getting used to since it "slides" very easily. I love the trackball feature even though I have never liked trackballs. And for me its small size is another benefit - its very comfortable to use. I have three different wireless mice on my three computers - this one, a mighty mouse and a logitech mouse and this has become my favorite one. …More

Kensington SlimBlade Trackball Mouse
I really like it
Written by WS from ALBUQUERQUE

I got this mouse to use at work with my laptop so I didn't have to carry my existing apple bluetooth mouse back and forth. I found that wasn't very practical, because this mouse is much more sensitive, and thus the setting for the tracking speed has to be at the second to slowest setting. That's WAY too slow for the apple mouse, so I had to change settings each time I changed mice. So now I'm carrying this Kensington mouse back and forth in my bag and gave the Apple mouse to my kids. And I'm happy about it, because the Kensington is MUCH easier to use than than the apple wireless mouse. I right click often, and I have never been able to get the Apple wireless mouse to right click reliably (so I use control-click). This one actually has separate buttons rather than the pressure sensor, and as a result right clicking is positive and fool-proof. The high tracking sensitivity takes some getting used to, but on the second lowest tracking speed, it works fine for me. The track ball is smooth, provides a clicking sound feedback, and is positive for both vertical and horizontal scrolling. It pairs easily with bluetooth. It powers itself off when the computer is shut off, and has to be powered back up manually by depressing the button on the bottom for 3-4 seconds. This is easy and works right every time. Great product, very fast and positive for text editing. …More

Kensington SlimBlade Trackball Mouse
not very good mouse
Written by DT from Pleasant Prairie

This mouse I got from bestbuy , but I returned it because it had no control . I would want to point out its all over the place and not very good . If you need to control it you cant even if you slow it down all the way . The mouse has not scrolling control at all and if you move the pointer a little bit it will fly like crazy on the screen .
If you want my advice dont buy it . get a wireless mighty mouse from apple or a kensington wired mouse with scrolling function built in . You would be better off in the long run .
good luck with you mouse hunt . …More3 of 10 people found this useful
