Overview

The Bella Pro Series Keyboard 3.0 allows maximum flexibility for all of your video editing needs. It features the world's only built-in jog/shuttle controller, two USB 2.0 ports for direct, high-speed connectivity, and three ports for the NeoLite--a USB task lite with dual LEDs and a 12-inch flexible gooseneck.

Having the job/shuttle right at your fingertips helps you edit more efficiently and feel more connected to your audio and video clips. The shuttle (outer) ring allows play and hold at the speed you want (it turns 90 degrees in either direction), while the jog (inner) wheel allows more fine frame-by-frame control. Along with the keyboard you get free high-quality sticker sets to help you learn and edit more quickly, and multimedia keys for further productivity.

    Shuttle wheel not great.

    Written by JW from Maynard

    Jan 27, 2008

I find that it's easier to use the scroll wheel on the mouse or the arrow keys rather than the shuttle wheel when I need to move a frame at a time.

Also, the shuttle wheel is where the arrow keys would normally be and I find this inconvenient. I use this keyboard for all types of applications and need the arrow keys to be bigger and more conveniently placed. I also do my editing at home, and the "neo-lite" isn't something I really need. If I worked all day in a really dark studio, I suppose it would be great.

Also, because of the strangely-shaped black plastic surrounding the keyboard, it limits your ability to use a foam wrist-pad and I've got carpal tunnel issues.

This is a great keyboard, but not well-suited for my needs. I wish I'd purchased the "Advantage Series 2.0" instead.

A little pricey but worth it

    Written by JR from Austin

    Apr 12, 2008

I bought this keyboard several years ago (could be version 2.0) while I was working on a documentary. I knew Final Cut, but not well enough to be proficient with the hot keys. This keyboard allowed me to look down and not only assign a color to a function, but a letter as well. Granted it was all preassigned, but since I knew nothing, that was even better for me.

The only "cons" it has, is that the scroll wheel doesn't register with some applications when you move it too fast. Also, I could never get some of the buttons to format properly. I ended up having to remember that "mute" was "eject."

But you can configure the buttons at the top to do whatever you want. If you can handle the price, have a need to learn the hot keys quickly, are willing to be a little flexible with slightly less that ultimate perfection, then I'm sure you will enjoy this keyboard as much as I have.

This is a great keyboard. the shuttle wheel is fantastic, and the light that comes with it makes a great tool for in-the-dark editing. This is a great, functional keyboard that fits perfectly into anyone's Final Cut Studio setup More

    Shuttle wheel

The shuttle wheel works great for controlling a tape deck. I do not use it for time line or clip control.
