A Great Purchase!
Written by PY from Lansing

I've been using this keyboard for around 3 years. I was a music major in college and used this mainly for writing purposes. It syncs perfectly with Garageband and is perfect for synth/drum use. The touch on this is a little off. You have to be careful when using strings or piano on this because of the touch. After about two years of hard use, some of the keys started to get sticky, but it's probably because of all the miles it's got on it. Don't get this keyboard if you're looking for perfect sensitivity or weighted/semi-weighted keys. It's a great midi controller. Alongside Garageband, this keyboard is great for anyone doing solo work or small projects. Anything more professional, look at the 61 keystation or atleast one with weighted keys. …More

What a great keyboard
Written by EA from Moreno Valley

I recently purchased a 24" IMac. After 17 years as a PC user I'll never go back to a PC. I bought this keyboard to work with Garageband on my IMAC, and I must say it is fantastic. I played music on the IMac for hours. This keyboard is simple to use just plug & play and is anesthetically pleasing to the eyes. For someone like me who is new to music, this keyboard in conjunction with Garageband you can make all kinds of music, simple and fun. For the price you can't go wrong, oh by the way for those few who said this keyboard doesn't work with Leopord, they are wrong, just plug & play!!!! …More

It Does Too Work with Snow Leopard 10.6.2!
Written by MT from KEMMERER

Just receive my M-Audio KeyStudio 49 from Apple earlier today. Took it out of the box, plugged it into a USB hub connected to my 13" MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and it worked like a charm. I had GarageBand already open and it detected the keyboard and said it was ready to use with GarageBand in just a few seconds. I started off in the Lesson section and then went into the main GarageBand recording area and the keyboard worked in every area of GarageBand. I had a lot of fun trying out the different instruments and synthesizer settings. There's plenty to do and play with for somebody just starting out and/or with beginner to intermediate piano experience. The keys feel more like an organ than a piano, but there is some pressure sensitivity to it so overall it's a pretty decent keyboard to start out with. …More

Affordable solution
Written by CP from holland

This is a cheap USB keyboard. It feels nothing like any sort of high end weighted key configuration. Regardless, this works seamlessly with garage band and is the most affordable way to translate musical ideas onto your Mac. I performed a show with this and my macbook just using samples from garage band. Worked fine for what I wanted. Very good value. …More

Doesn't work with Snow Leopard
Written by RH from Reston
Nov 10, 2009
I was very disappointed to get my new keyboard, plug it in and find that it does not work
with Snow Leopard. The Midi Setup Utility was useless. The box it came in said it was compatible
with OS X, and the driver CD even insists that no driver needs to be installed. When I checked
with drivers on the M-Audio Web site they only had drivers up through OS X 1.5.8 and my
Snow Leopard is now OS X 1.6.2. If you are considering buying one of these devices you
might consider waiting until this problem is resolved. By the way it is also not compatible
with Windows 7. …More108 of 139 people found this useful

im starting piano soon, will this keyboard work well as just an everyday keyboard?

It's only 49 keys so there's a little limitation if you're playing big intricate pieces, but there's always the octave buttons to go up or down. I use it for recording as well as jamming with friends. I just open Logic, pick a nice piano and add some reverb, then play away. If you're just beginning and you're only going to be playing pretty basic stuff it should be just fine. …More
