Best speakers for my Mac ever!
Written by JJ from Santa Monica

I have the old Harmon Kardon Sound Sticks with subwoofer but after several years they died on me. Replaced them with the M-Audio AV 40 and these speakers are s-o-o much better! Rich nuanced sound that fills my studio. Plenty of bass even without the separate subwoofer. I can really rock out.
Front of left speaker has aux input and comes packaged with a stereo 1/8th to 1/8th cord so friends dropping by can plug their iPods directly into these speakers and let me hear their new discoveries.
Absolutely love them! And only $150! …More436 of 525 people found this useful

M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 Speaker System
high fidelity
Written by JM from Antrim

I've used these speakers for about a month now and I am very happy with them. I spent a lot of time looking for the best speakers at an affordable price and ended up with these.
The sound of these are amazing... you can hear every thing the way it was meant to be heard (studio monitors) with no unwanted effects put in the sound to tarnish the fidelity of whatever you're listening to.
For those of you who are worried about not having a subwoofer, not to worry - if the song was meant to have the bass be heard, you will definetly hear it... and feel it too! These get impressively loud and sound very full and heavy.
The auxiliary input in the left speaker is a great featue and handy for portable devices like laptops and mp3 players. Although there isn't a digital input, there are RCA and TRS analog inputs. Then again, the common listener has no need for digital inputs (that's for the audiophiles).
So if you're looking for high fidelity speakers with the most bang for your buck, then you've found the right place. …More398 of 492 people found this useful

These speakers/monitors are simply the best. The sound they produce is AWESOME. Very crisp. I use them for producing/editing music for films and It's nice to hear instruments you wouldn't normally hear with regular speakers. I would HIGHLY recommend these speakers.

Not exactly hifi speakers, but very impressive!
Written by AD from Paris

I have used these speakers with my desktop computer for 3 days now and they really sound good: the trebles are very clean and the medium/bass are good. Of course, you cannot expect the moon with speakers of this size but they will probably surprise you.
If terms like directional sound and stereo image has a meaning for you, just don't hesitate! For the others, this is a good opportunity to discover that, so get them too ;)
If you like zen desktop though, these speakers do take place on the table. I must admit that I quickly get used to it: it is a good way to say to people that music takes a great part of my life! …More12 of 12 people found this useful

Not Bad.
Written by JD from Corryton

I got the AV 30 version, but still these speakers are still quite impressive. They boast some very nice audio for a very decent price. I was a little disappointed with the distortion at high volumes, but it is an acceptable amount. These speakers are amazing for any small to medium room or office, and just great for a dorm room. Plenty of power for the whole floor! …More

Nice sound stopped working after one year
Written by JS from Mount morris

I bought these speakers because of the great reviews. However people should know that after one year the right speaker just stopped working. I have googled this problem and some others reported a similar fate to mine. So buyer beware I guess.
I really liked the sound but I guess inside the quality is not there. …More42 of 57 people found this useful

What is "TRS INPUT"?
- Asked by MW from New York
- Oct 20, 2009
Best Answer
TRS is commonly known as an audio jack. A lot of speakers these days for computers use USB for sound. TRS uses either 1/4" plugs, 1/8" plugs or 3/32" (sub-mini) plugs. The plug for your iPhone or iPod earbuds is 1/8", while if you have an electric guitar, or are plugging in some nice headphones to a stereo system, you'd be using 1/4 inch plugs most likely.
Typically people really into true sound prefer speakers with the analog audio input vs. a digital input. It's kind of like those who prefer vinyl records over CD's. …More- Answered by GS from Jamul
