Overview

Using an extended version of the Ken Burns effect, Photo to Movie will literally change the way you look at your photos forever. You can zoom, pan and rotate over your photos, blending them together with transitions from one photo to the next. Add titles and music and you have a high-quality movie ready to burn to DVD.

Your photos will come alive in a way that will engage and impress your audience. Forget the traditional static slide show -- use Photo to Movie to bring your photos alive, focusing attention on the important part of the photo.

Features
  • Key frames, motion paths and transitions. Photo to Movie is easy to use. Simply drag photos from iPhoto or the Finder and drop them into Photo to Movie. You can also drag QuickTime VR movies and make movies by moving through the QuickTime VR movies. Photo to Movie will assign preset motion paths, key frames and transitions to each photo.
  • Titles. Add some titles to describe your movie or your photos. Use the full power of Mac OS X fonts to make your titles look great. Choose the typeface, size, style and color (including transparency).
  • Soundtrack. Drag your music from the Finder into the timeline and you have a soundtrack to add that extra audience attachment to your movie. You can adjust the timing of the music using the timeline and cross fade music pieces by overlapping them.
  • Motions paths. Form complex, multi-segment motion paths, zooming and rotating your photo along the way. Unlike other similar applications, Photo to Movie allows you to set the motion of the duration along the entire motion path, not just the individual segments.
  • Motions presets. Motion presets can be applied to all of your photos as necessary. Make your movies look like the beautiful Mac OS X screensaver.
  • Export. Once you've created your movie, you can export it to a variety of formats, including e-mail, web format, CD-ROM, DV Stream (for use in iMovie) or Full Quality DV.

    Amazing niche program

    Written by CC from Seattle

    Oct 25, 2007

When I purchased iLife 06 and made an iDVD slideshow, I was very pleased with the result. When I made an iPhoto slideshow, I was even more pleased with the increased versatility of KB effects and ability to mix timing and transitions for variety.

I have been working with the trial download of PTM, and I keep thinking "Sure wish I had started with PTM." I may even go back and redo the iDVD slideshow in PTM one of these days. The versatility of keyframes and titling in PTM cause what amazed me about slideshows from iDVD and iPhoto to pale by comparison.

Yeah, there is a learning curve When I first started playing around with it, PTM seemed complicated and overwhelming and I thought it was more work than it was worth, just to take advantage of the improved titling. But at the end of about 3 hours I was very comfortable with most facets of the program, and quite taken with the incredible power of just a few added concepts.

I thank the nameless person who first suggested this program.

Easy Slide Shows No Need For Work Arounds

    Written by KW from Moorpark

    Apr 25, 2007

I took the previous reviewers advice and gave this product a try. I have only downloaded the trial version and already I have made easy slide shows with KB and no flicker problems.
No media changes. No burning speed changes, No jaggies!!
I have not had to stop and figure work arounds for things that don't work like there supposed to.
This product will save you a lot of time and give you the slide show you expected to get in the first place so you can move on.

Try the demo to see how great it is!

This software is great! I am amazed that there are several reviewers that say there is a learning curve...this is a VERY easy to use program. I did my first try-out slideshow (about 10 photos) in about 10 minutes! There is a ton more options unlike iMovie and iPhoto (which I have always used in the past)...no more.

There are a few reviews from people who couldn't do simple things...like to reverse the order of the Ken Burns movement, it took all of 2 seconds to change t order in the menu bar (even labeled "reverse order")... one reviewer said there was no regular fade, the program is preset for a crossfade (and there are about 20 more options to change the transitions to).

I just wish I had found this program a long time ago...I feel like my old movies are now so inadequate.

    Great Potential...and complete system crashes

    Written by RM from Braintree

    Dec 19, 2008

I worked with PTM for over a 5 day period. I liked the touted abilities to do "keyframe" zooms and pans within one picture. Really impressive. I like the ability to have tracks for sound, to sync with specific frames, titles. This program would kick *ss if it could run without completely crashing your system. I don't mean hanging; I mean the deadly dark curtain of death lowers completely without warning and a prompt directs the user to "hold down the power button" to perform a forced shut down. ARE YOU KIDDNG ME!?? the entire OS crashes.
Now the "inspector" for images or audio won't work properly; it opens briefly then closes upon release of mouse. What? Accustomed to work arounds, I try opening the audio side, it opens. Once this is done, I can open the images inspector. (This bug continues throughout)
I experienced AT LEAST FIFTEEN CRASHES on this one presentation.

    Limited and Frustrating

    Written by DK from Thomasville

    Mar 2, 2008

I read all the reviews before I purchased this software, and was looking forward to a positive experience. I was vastly disappointed. For my purposes -- making a movie out of still photos -- this program was far too limited.

The "high quality transitions" you are promised do not even include a simple fade, so unless you want a cheesy cube or iris effect, or something along those lines, what you end up with is a herky-jerky series of photos. Perfect for a slide show -- but this is supposed to be photo to MOVIE, not photo to SLIDE SHOW. Incredibly disappointing.

Another reviewer wrote that there is a learning curve to this program - there is, and it is very frustrating. It has been said that the difference between Mac users and PC users is that Mac users want to WORK on their computer and PC users want to work ON their computer. If I had an entire day to spend figuring out how to make something work on my computer, I wouldn't have a Mac.

Total waste of my time and money.
