Read IRIS Pro is not what it claims to be

The product works fair at best. Formatting is rarely retained and images rarely transfer. The software boasts a lot on the web, literature, and box cover but when you try the product, it does everything the "Read Me" file says.

Stay away. It's not worth the money.

    Worked fine for me

Read Iris worked fine for what I needed, which was to turn about twenty pages from a paperback (with authorization!) into editable text.

On top of that, I had blown the pages to full size and the copying wasn't that great.

I'm not sure what else I could expect from an OCR product. If it had formatted into paragraphs, it would have gotten five stars, but I didn't play around with it a whole lot. Within forty five or so minutes from opening the program, I was finished and moved on in the workflow.

    Best alternative!

This product is remarkable. When you need to retype something already printed and you do not have its electronic version (an believe me, when you get the software, you find a LOT of documents you do not have in electronic format!!), you can use Read IRIS to scan with your scanner, and retype the text in your computer. I guess, my expecations, unlike a previous reviewer, are that IF, the software retypes faster than my hands, the software wins. I would not even dare competing :) More
