Quicken for Mac

I've been using Quicken software on PC's for years. Finally switched to a Mac.
Installed Quicken for Mac 2007 and have found it super easy to use. Before you start have your checkbook and /or bank statement handy. You'll need your routing and account numbers. If you have questions your bank's online services support hotline can lead you through the process.
I like Quicken 2007 for Mac a lot more than the version for PC use.
Oh... did I mention the widget? Quicken gives you an option to add a widget during the software installtion. This feature is great when you want to fill in a few transactions but don't want to open Quicken! …More1763 of 2211 people found this useful

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Think Twice!
Written by AM from Bloomfield Hills

To all Mac users who are thinking about purchasing Quicken for mac... ATTENTION --> buy this product with VERY low expectations, especially if you are familar with Quicken for Windows!
I have used Quicken since it's debut. Two years ago I made a change to Apple. I love my Mac but Quicken has been a thorn in my side (as it should be for Apple), since it is the ONLY reason for my discontent with my Mac. For this reason, I'm shocked that Apple hasn't gotten involved and met with the Quicken people to coerce them into improving this product.
Quicken is notorious for releasing products with bugs and especially with the Mac versions, the improvements are a joke. The current version for Mac has half the features of the Windows version and further, Quicken is lax at fixing bugs.

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Very few new features, and much fewer than the windows version.

Quicken 2007 for Mac is not much different than Quicken 2006 for Mac. Intuit tends to make some minor changes to the interface, add a minor feature or two, fix one or two bugs a year, and then charge full price to upgrade to the next version.
The fact that this is not a universal binary shows the amount of time and effort that intuit puts into the mac version of quicken. If you really want the latest greatest Quicken, the one that Intuit spends time and money improving, get paralells or run boot camp and use the windows version.
If you don't believe me, go over to intuit.com and check out the user forums for quicken for mac; you'll be able to make a more informed decision about investing in this software. …More1245 of 1480 people found this useful

Quicken 2007 for Mac
So Sad
Written by ED from Chicago

This year I switched over to Mac from PC and had to purchase this product if I wanted to keep being able to use Quicken to do my family finances. I am devastated that this product is nowhere near the original PC version. In addition to all of the rigmarole you have to go through to import your data, the interface is sparse, not user friendly, and ultimately, one of my banks didn't support the Mac version, so I couldn't download my transactions from my bank into this version. Needless to say, I'm not using it anymore. I'm looking for some other financial software for macs. In the meantime, I am suffering... …More

The Upgrade Process From Quicken 2004-Quicken 2007
Written by AT from Grantham
Oct 24, 2009
I'm no computer wizard. I'm a senior citizen who came to computers later in life and came to Mac only 6 years ago. I use my Quicken for simple financial work--checks, expense reports, etc. I just did the upgrade from Quicken 2004 to Quicken 2007 in about 10 minutes and everything was there just as it was before the upgrade. Unless I've missed something, this was the easiest upgrade I've ever done. If Quicken 2007 does for me what Quicken 2004 did for me, I'll be ecstatic. And the icing on the cake is that I'll be able to move it to my new iMAC effortlessly. …More

I run Quicken 2009 on PC XP. Can I convert to Quicken 2007 for Mac and will online banking work?
- Asked by RM from Morris Plains

Best Answer
It all depends on which bank you use and whether they support Direct Connect or only Web downloads. In my case I have 4 credit cards from Amex, Chase, and Bank of America. Amex and Chase support it, but BOA does not. That really puts me in a bind when I also have multiple bank accounts with BOA. So in Quicken 2009 on my PC all 14 accounts update daily and I can see errors same day. Comparing to the same accounts using Q2007 for Mac, only 4 accounts use Direct Connect (real time downloads) and the other 10 have to be manually downloaded and imported (HUGE PAIN). ALSO NOTE... you must follow the quicken conversion instructions on their website. If you follow it step by step, your conversion will be painless. However, their support for issues if really terrible (24 x 7 chat never works), Email responses in 2 business days does not happen, and they say they will 'probably charge you 24.95' for phone call support.
Hope this helps
