Great speakers, but better to get the Companion 5
Written by MN from Hixson
Nov 24, 2006
I recently visited a Bose store with the intentions of purchasing these speakers. However, upon hearing these versus the Companion 5 speakers, the difference became clear and I had no hesitancy in spending the extra money. The Companion 5 speakers sound much more like theater quality speakers, while these speakers sound more like computer speakers. If you have the extra money, the Companion 5 is without a doubt the way to go. …More

The sound is AWESOME!
Written by PW from Coral Springs

You will not be disappointed with the sound quality! I was searching for a "high end" computer speaker system to go along with the 24" iMac that I recently purchased and was extremely impressed with this speaker set up. I also was tempted to purchase the Bose Companion 5 but decided the additional $150 wasn't worth it. You will be very happy with this system!!! Go for it! …More

Awesome!!
Written by RL from Severn

Out of the box I was impressed with the build quality of the speakers. The cables are audiophile grade - not some cheasy zip cord.
I am totally blown away by this system. I've been using Creature speakers for the computer.
I have all high end audio equipment and home theatre equipment and just never considered the computer for critical music playback. This Bose system has totally turned me around. Imaging and detail is surprisingly good. Acoustic guitars sound like they should. Piano's, drums, cymbals, flutes!! everything is as it should be. Bass is tight - not muddy or distorted. I'm hearing things I didn't hear before in almost every song I've played. I use Itunes.. have about 8000 songs in my library and I never sit in front of the computer to listen to music. Since I have had this Bose system I'm spending time listening. I'm impressed!! That's not easy. Out of the box the speakers sounded a little tinny.. but.. that's to be expected until they are broken in. I have about 5 hours time on them and they are starting to really open up. They really sound good sitting about 5 feet back... feet up on the desk.. kicked back! …More480 of 682 people found this useful

Stands up to bose standards
Written by DG from Stamford

I was hesitant to buy bose again after I had alot of trouble with one of there home theater systems. But this is a nice little system with a barable amount of distortion on high volumes.
I do not like that you can only adjust the bass on the back of the sub itself. They should add that feature to the control pad.
Besides that I am a big fan and I think it is worth the money …More5 of 10 people found this useful

Good Speakers...
Written by CK from Shorewood
Aug 31, 2009
I've had the Bose Companion 3 Series II speakers for a few months now and overall they are decent. Sound quality is pretty good. The Bass seems a little hard to dial in. It's either over the top or not enough. This could be a result of the media I'm playing though (i.e. Movie on iTunes or MP3 rip). But again, overall sound quality is good and aesthetically the speakers look good with my iMac. The wired remote (Control Pod per Bose) is great. Its weight is such that you aren't pushing the thing around all over your desk. Plus it has what feels like an adhesive (no sticky residue) on the bottom that further keeps the remote from scooting around. A remote bass level knob on the Control Pod would be great. Unfortunately, you have to reach around to the back of the sub to adjust bass.
However, there is one glaring issue that caused me to write this review. The satellite speakers don't appear to be shielded against "GSM buzz", the nasty sound you get when placing a GSM phone (i.e. iPhone) too close to a speaker. This is disappointing since I have my iPhone docked right in front of my iMac. I often need to mute the speakers via the Control Pod to avoid having to listen to the GSM buzz when the phone does anything on the cell phone network. It doesn't happen all the time, but just enough to be a nuisance.
So, overall they are decent speakers. If it weren't for the GSM buzz, I would def. give these speakers 4 stars. …More25 of 26 people found this useful
