Great Single Player, Lacking Multiplayer
Written by NK from Seattle

The graphics on this game are awesome. Upgrading from a 1Ghz G4 I had no idea how good games have become. The single player is immersive and fun. Although it can be dark at times, it is done well, not trying to scare you like in Doom 3. The voice actors are great and the animation is supurb.
My only problem is with the multiplayer. It is very much in the style of quake 3 or unreal tournement. If you like those games this will not disapoint. However, based on the single player gameplay I was assuming there would be more of a team based large scale realistic battle. Instead it is a very fast pased shooter with short life spans and no vehicles. An open map with the hover tanks and walkers from the single player campaign would have been very cool. …More253 of 380 people found this useful

Good, but better buy the windows version if you play multiplayer
Written by CB from austin

I got this game a few weeks ago. here's what I have to say.
Pros:
can run on osx. Its smooth enough.
Cons:
Multiplayer: It's hard to find people to play with online. The multiplayer mode is mac only, and the number of mac players out there are very few. When I search for games I never see more than 10 people on.
Graphics: it doesn't support wide screen. Instead, it only supports the windows standard resolutions.
If we can play with windows people online and run full screen at native resolution, this game would be awesome. …More122 of 170 people found this useful

Quake 4 rocks on my Macbook Pro!
Written by PM from Toronto

Initially I was hesitant to buy Quake 4 for my Macbook Pro not knowing how well the dual-core processors would perform. However after installing the patch program I found the gameplay experience to be awesome! There is a bit of a lag while your progress is being saved, but other than that, I would highly recommend Quake 4 to avid and beginner mac gamers alike. Happy fragging! …More

Quake 4
Stands the test of time
Written by DS from Raleigh

I recently loaded Quake 4 back onto my Mac and played through it. It still delivered the visceral thrills that it had back in 2006. It isn't the hardest game and the enemy AI is lacking compared to recent shooters but for a solid, atmospheric FPS it still has teeth. I hope id delivers on Rage. I need a new FPS for my mac. …More

Quake 4
Worth buying,
Written by KJ from Courtenay

The games graphics were not COD4 but were still very good. My only real quibble with the game was the sound. If you use the new Intel based Macbook you have to download an update to even get sound witch was no big deal but even after the update it cut out twice on me and trough trial and error I found out I just needed to restart my computer so no big deal. I also think that the game could have used a few check points closer to some of the harder ares but hitting the save button once in awhile is an easy fix, all and all it was definitely worth buying except you are left a bit hanging at the end and Id soft has no plans to make a quake 5 but that does not take away from the game itself. …More
