The best thirty bucks I every spent on anything in computing. Not just for cartoons. I have used it to create wine lables, blogs, pod casts and web slide shows. The tools free your imagination in ways you can not see until you play with it for a while. And the tools are intuitive and simple to use. It is just a remarkably powerful tool for putting together text and graphics to convey information.
It is well inegrated with Iphoto. I have used my own photos and graphics but I have also imported photos from the web. The software is also rock solid.
I don't know if other software is WAY too expensive or Comic Life is too cheap, but this is a great value. …More307 of 410 people found this useful

Really great for layout of a basic comic

I'm actually creating my first comic book and I happened upon this program on apple.com randomly tonight while looking for games to take a break from working on my first comic! HA! What a godsend! I was relieved! I was dreading having to draw all the panels and this program demo really works great and is very intuitive to use. As the other reviewer states that while the program is demonstrated with photos it is also useful to basic comic book artists - you simply make a folder with your scanned comic drawings and drop them right into place. You can even modify the panel boxes, fonts, page look-and-feel and alot more. I'm gonna purchase this right away only after using for about an hour! Kudos to the developer Plasq. I would like to see a cover page template in the next version. Program might also be a great way to use as storyboard templates too for filming...now back to work on my comic!!!

It is shown to use with photos but if you actually draw a comic it works as a time saver for layout of pages. Easy to add drawings. Does all the lettering, box framing, ballooning and added effects seen in most comic books in a breeze. It gives me more time to just draw. Perfect tool for publish a comic book or web comic. …More

This software works great if you're not wanting to do anything with your comic except print. However, it saves in a unique file format that you can't open in any other application. For anything other than print comics, this is a $30 font book. …More

I made a calender for my friends using Comic Life. Used comic life printouts that Office Max made into calenders. Gave it to many folks for Christmas several years ago. Used pictures gathered over the years with Comic Life captions. Everybody is still laughing and still wondering how it all looked so professional. …More

We spent days on a slow old pc trying to organise our wedding invites and were amazed when we bought our mac and used comic life. Within 5 minutes we had our invites all planned out beautifully. Don't let the title mislead you. So much fun but so much more than just comics. …More
