All too often, earphones must sacrifice comfort for the sake of sound quality and vice versa. Bang & Olufsen has struck the perfect balance with earphones that embody both - designed to fit the individual ear and deliver unsurpassed sound quality.
Contours and curves:
With conventional earphones much of the sound never makes it into the ear. To stop this kind of leakage, we have developed earphones that can be adjusted to fit the contours and curves of the individual ear.
Design:
The Earphones are crafted from anodised aluminum and hard rubber giving them both flexibility and robust durability.

Mind Blowingly clear and ultra comfortable! A+++

5 STARS with a bullet!
I've heard over 150 headphones over the years. Koss Sennheiser, Sony, Denon, Bose. Every one seems to have a trade off. Well Bang and Olufsen weighed the trade offs and selected the best possible mix of portability, sound quality and durability.
Others assume you have an "Average" size ear. Not Bang and Olufsen, they have this ultra cool "Piston" made of aluminum that you can EXACTLY adjust it like a mini hydraulic shock! So you adjust the ear bud height to exactly the distance of the top of your ear to the ear canal. Then the ear bud can pivot inwards, and if that was not enough--get this.... the ear loop is actually hinged, so it fits over ear glasses and sunglasses and can be removed easily without having to take off your glasses.
-neat trick. After fitting the headphones I twist the earpiece outward so when I release it presses the ear bud inward for a comfortable seal. Perfect fit everytime....Ahhhhhhh..
The bass response is far better than any other non-sealing ear bud- listening to techno tracks is a dream- even and bass heavy 80's music. Hearing Miles Davis, Kind of Blue was a revelation. So much detail and nuance I never knew was there before- even when listening at on a $25,000 reference system. Listening to massed choral voices, I can hear individual performers take their in breath at the end of each verse!!!! I have never been this close to the music, this comfortably.
When playing loudly they don't distort easily, and since the IPOD is a little Bass light- they really make my IPOD more listenable. I used to prefer the sound of my Creative ZEN player, but once these were paired with the IPOD it was sonic nirvana. But Bang and Olufsen is really foolish to offer a 3-year warranty. I'm sure that no pair of headphones would ever last me more than a year, so I guess I'll be getting new ones every year for free.
For all the time I spend commuting- this is well spent money.

Bang & Olufsen A8 Headphones
Absolutely the best yet!

After reading these reviews I decided to go out and listen for myself. I listened to five different headphones and the most expensive pair I tried was made by Sure at $499.00, and were noise cancelling. In my opinion, these didn't sound any better than B&O and I couldn't see spending more than double the price of an I-pod for headphones. These are worth every penny I paid! Take my word for it, go out and buy now...life is too short! Incredible bass and overall exceptional sound quality. They look awesome and can be adjusted to fit your ears like a glove. Also comes with a nice carrying case. …More

Bang & Olufsen A8 Headphones
minor tweeking.

after days of deliberating on whether or not to buys these, i took the plunge and spent the full retail price, $160 at an apple store. i was disappointed at first, but after some minor adjustments they're really terrific. i listen to alot of rock music, but the bass is very important, and like alot of reviews other than mine, it's safe to say it's a little lacking. i did a few things that seemed to help. first, the actual ear pieces are a bit large, and i think that's where some of the bass is lost. it seemed to help by using the foam covers that come with the headphones, it traps the sound better (and it's more comfortable with them on). the next thing i did was edit all of my songs in itunes by putting the bass booster on. then on my ipod, i switched the EQ to bass booster (twice the normal amount). not the most bass, but it improved about 60 percent. the good thing about these phones are that they are incredibly comfortable. the sound is also really rich and clear, and outside noise it hard to hear. i am a musician, and even i noticed new things in the songs i had heard a thousand times before. lastly, they just look so cool, and that's where they really sucker you. form right next to fuction, and worth the price, but just barely. …More

Bang & Olufsen A8 Headphones
Stylish, comfortable,unreliable

I have owned mine since 2007. I had a local electronics center replace the jack with a stronger one from R....S....It provided sound for the past 7 months but I've lost the left channel this week. The best feature is comfort and the sound quality is ok.
I appreciate the ability to here ambient sounds when wearing them but I will replace them with headphones another company. My inexpensive backup Philips, bought at CVS for a lot less, have decent sound quality but I can't wear them for more than 1/2 hour. I own other B & O products and I would have expected better. …More1 of 7 people found this useful

$160.00 investment quits working within little over several months
Written by PH from Anderson

I was a proud owner of A8 for about 15 months. The sound is incredible and I like the fit as well. However all of the sudden and for no reason one side quit working. I am trying to find out what B & O can do for me however so far I am unsuccessful. In my opinion the money is lost for good. The next time I won't be considering any such expensive item if it is not covered with extensive warranty. …More
