    Beware if using Intel Mac

Written by MB from La Mirada

    Mar 8, 2006

The software for this product does NOT work properly with the Intel Macs. I bought this product for my new Intel 20" iMac. (a) I looked at Kensington's website for all pertenant information. (b) I read the box for compatibility. (c) I spoke with the salesperson at the major computer retailer where I made the purchase at. There was no indication of an issue with Apple's newest iMac and Mac Mini. After installing, I found that functionality was limited. (a) I couldn't open the Kensington Mouseworks. (b) I went back to Kensington's site and downloaded the latest driver posted for Apple/Mac; it wouldn't load. The next day I called Kensington tech support. The tech "looked in the knowledge base" and reported that the current software is incompatible with the Intel processor. Kensington is working on an update, but has no date as to when the update will be released. The mechanics of the mouse works, but only with default functions. If this "difficulty" is listed on Kensington's web site, I can't find it (as of this writing). More

    Great ball

    Written by TG from Manassas

I am running mine on an iMac OS 10.4.4 with the Intel chips and it works great, no trouble, Oh I did NOT install the Kensington software, I just pluged it in and used it. The scroll ring is wonderful, and the 4 keys around were pre programed just right. The upper left button brings up the widgets, for me this is very helpful. The ball is just a little smaller than there earlier balls so my pool 8 ball won't work, but I can live with that. All in all this is the best ball they have made. More

If you have ever considered a trackball...

    Written by AH from Tucson

I don't think I've ever been so impressed with a product so as to feel compelled to review it. But this optical trackball is the best thing to happen to me since... well lets just say input never felt so good. I have used trackballs in the past and unlike the others there was no adjustment period with the ExpertMouse, just put your hand on it and the fingers know what to do. The scroll ring is ingenious, just the right number of buttons comfortably placed, and the ball is just the right size to provide comfortable and precise operation. Oh did I mention Kensington did a great job on the driver software for this thing? No complaints whatsoever. If you have ever considered a trackball make this it, $99 may seem expensive but you will never use a mouse again. More

    Kensington Expert Mouse

    Written by JT from Manassas

    Nov 25, 2009

I became very nervous about this mouse when I read the reports that it didn't work, especially on Snow Leopard. I have a brand new 27" iMac and the mouse is working fine with the software I downloaded from the Kensington website. The only issue is that I cannot program the buttons for increasing text size and going back in Firefox like I can with the Logitech MX Air. I was able to program dashboard in one of the buttons so I can live with the other issues. All in all, the mouse is pretty good if it stays that way and can be purchased for a lot less on Amazon-don't pay the too stiff $100 retail on this trackball. More

    Broken on SnoLeopard

    Written by JD

Kensington does not support the drivers for SnowLeopard and never will according to their website. They have abandoned this product on the Mac. ANd have not released any product with a larger ball nor button set for Snoleopard. More

    love it and hate it

    Written by RW from MANSFIELD

I have 2 of these. One works great... with my mini mac. Love it. Does everything it should and does it well. Did not install software that came with the trackball. Just plugged it in. Smooth action, accurate, responsive. Great layout and usage of click buttons.

Now the other Expert Trackball is another story. I'm using it with my Imac. Just doesn't work. Didn't install the software here either.

Both machines are running OS 10.4. I just don't understand.
