I'll admit when I bought my Mini I was less than thrilled about paying an extra 70 dollars for a case but after a week of use I can say this particular product exceeds expectations and is worth the money. There isn't much added weight, the protection is great, and it feels like a premium product should just the way the iPad itself was designed to be. The smart unlock feature is great and the stand is sturdy. I would recommend this case to anyone who is looking to protect their investment. …

Function meets design in perfect harmony.
First off I want to say that i was skeptical when i went to buy this case, but i am pleased with it.

I did go buy it when it was released and have constantly used it since. I am extreamly carefull with my ipad and have only droped it ones and thankfully it was with this case and only a half bodys legnth from the ground, only minor damage to the case thats barely noticeable cosmeticly it has not effected my ipad in the slightest.
-The magnets on the case do their job and have not warn-out so far as i have noticed.
-case does not slip off of the iPad mini
-there is some space where the back of the case meets with the front, the crease isn't perfect and does lift off of the ipad just a little. but this may be just a problem with my case and isn't that big a deal.
-the magnets won't magnatize your screen or the inner workings. I saw a review on the old smart cover for the big iPad that blamed the case for slowing down their ipad... Pfft
Its a good case for moderate to light protection of your iPad mini. Good design and matirials were used to make it. complements the iPad perfectly
The only thing wrong with it if there is something wrong is the price. But you are paying for leather and brilliant design, if it seems pricey after that, than see if at the store they'll let you try it on for size. once you've seen it on your ipad you'll have no choice than to buy it. …

Case is good - 3 fold cover is AWEFUL!!!!

I have a iPad 4 with the Apple smart case that The case protects the iPad really well but what I really do not like is the cover. I have a iPad 4 with the Apple smart case that has the 4 tab cover. When you fold it one tab folds inside and holds the fold together really well. But with the 3 tab it relies on a magnet to hold the fold together, which it doesn’t do. When you try to type or put any pressure on it when its in landscape mode the fold just collapses. The size of the folds are bigger now and do not fit in your hand as well as they use to also so its not as comfortable to hold when reading in the vertical position. I would recommend any other one that has a 4 tab cover. …

Shame on Apple - iPad mini Smart Case falls short
Just upgraded from an iPad 1 (my trusty dinosaur) to an iPad Mini and opted for the Smart Case that covers both front and back. T Just upgraded from an iPad 1 (my trusty dinosaur) to an iPad Mini and opted for the Smart Case that covers both front and back. The case has a nice "smart" on-off feature when opening and closing the case and there is a great variety of color options. The case falls short on two counts: First, the trifold top does not stay rigid when trying to use it to support the iPad at an angle - it just collapses. You might as well use a pillow or a book to prop it up. And second, and most annoying, the hole for the headphone jack is cut too small in the Smart Case which prevents good contact for proper audio output. When using the iPad Mini without the cover the jack seats just fine. The problem is the (Not So) "Smart Case." I've read blogs that state the Apple headsets work fine with the case but I have not tried one to see if this is true, though I did try a cheaper Maxell headset and had the same problem. I use Bose in-ear noise canceling earbuds which run ~$200 and I have been using them for years without problems with both my iPad 1 and iPhone 4 (both with protective cases). Has Apple gone so far as to block the use of accessory items made by anyone other than Apple? Why are they selling this inferior "Smart Case" item in their stores if it doesn't work properly? It never dawned on me to test the cover to see if an audio jack would fit properly before my purchase (of $70)! I can't return this inferior item soon enough. Shame on Apple. …

The (PRODUCT) RED is a beautiful product. I have only been using it for about 2 weeks, and I have not noticed any discolouration or smear of the dye on the screen, as I have had previously with the smart covers on my normal iPad. They do warn on the box that it may happen though, but I think it will give more character. …

It will prevent it from getting scuffed Nothing is drop-proof, but it is slightly damage resistant.
It will prevent it from getting scuffed if dropped, it prevents scratches, and it likely prevents most minor drop damage, but if it's dropped on the screen it will break, and the iPad will break if dropped on a hard surface from too high.
TL;DR: It's no Otterbox but it's better than nothing. …
