I got the iPhone 5 4 months ago and this cable that I received with my phone doesn't work anymore. The cable I had with my iPhone I got the iPhone 5 4 months ago and this cable that I received with my phone doesn't work anymore. The cable I had with my iPhone 4, I had for 2 years with no problems at all. So I find it very strange that the lighting cord can stop working so easily. Even the cord for my first generation iPod touch which is 6 years old and it still works. Now I have to go buy another cord and spend more money to keep using my phone. I hope the issue gets fixed soon because I don't want to keep buying new lighting cords every 4 months.

I've gone through three different lightning cords in the four months I've had my iPhone 5. All three have inexplicably stopped working. Each has gotten a short in the cord where it meets the lightning end though I've been careful to leave them straight, treat them gently (especially since the first failed). With my current cord, I have to hold the lightning end of the cord in a certain direction to get it to work.

On top of that, when it happens to short out, it interferes with the electric current, disabling linked ports. i.e. when it shorts out in any of my computers' USB ports, the other ports become inactive as well (disabling my external hard drive and USB mouse); when it is plugged in a charger with multiple outputs, the other outputs become inactive as well.

After buying several chargers, three iPods, three iPhones, and an iPad, I had amassed ten of the old 30-pin connectors. All ten work just as well as they did when I brought them home; I took it for granted that I never had an issue with any of them.

Not up to usual Apple quality standards. Breaks down with normal use.

There is nothing that I could possibly write that hasn't been already said, therefore I will just add to the justified complaints There is nothing that I could possibly write that hasn't been already said, therefore I will just add to the justified complaints of a product that is poorly made. These charging cables for the Iphone 5 are simply laughable and despicable. This is coming from someone who takes care of his possessions. I have multiple charging cables, so the fact that I have to replace them within a year of each other is infuriating and annoying. Apple, Do better. You can create cutting-edge technology, but can't find a way to make a more durable charging cable? It makes the company look like a complete joke. I'm sick and tired of it. DO BETTER.

Approaching two years, I am still on my FIRST lightning cable and absolutely nothing wrong with it. In fact, I ordered two extras Approaching two years, I am still on my FIRST lightning cable and absolutely nothing wrong with it. In fact, I ordered two extras when it first came out (one for my car and one for work) and they're all in mint condition still. I have NO idea what you people are doing with your cables that are causing them to break so quickly.
