The not-so-smart cover
I love my current iPad smart cover so when I ordered the iPad mini I just had to have the smart cover as well. But when it arrived I was majorly disappointed.
The connection feels flimsy and it never seems to line up properly. With the large iPad cover all you had to do was get it close and it would click in place and stay there. Even once I got the mini iPad cover to line up it kept moving every time I opened and closed it.
The lack of a metal hinge means that the cover does not fold over as nicely as the standard iPad smart cover. When I hold the mini iPad with the cover flipped to the back it doesn’t lie flat because of the spring force applied by the single-piece hinge design. But even when I flip the cover to the front to protect the screen it doesn’t lay flat there either. Honestly, it felt a lot like a paper-back book seam that had been bent back and forth too many times, quite the disappointment for a new product that I just took out of the box.
The cover itself also just feels cheaper. It’s the same price as the full-sized cover (even though it is smaller, easier to manufacture and uses less costly materials) but it is majorly lacking in quality. The color options are nice but the single-piece design is terrible and the cover itself seems to be more pliable, which only adds to its flimsy feel. I love my iPad mini but will be taking the smart cover back to the store. Hopefully some OEM gets wind of this deficiency and makes a mini version of Apples full-sized cover because that is all I really want. …- Written by Anna G from Norcross

Hate this cover
I have an IPAD 2 and could not wait to get the Mini. The cover is another story.... It's flimsy and keeps coming out of the pad. The magnet is not strong enough to hold it in place. Also, the folds do not work for me. Love all Apple products but, this is the one time I have bought something that I am returning for sure. …

I love it!
My grandma and I both recently purchased the Smart Covers in both green and blue. The colors are very attractive to the eye, and t hey are very easy to notice. The cases lie perfectly on top of the iPad Minis. The stand feature works perfectly and it is very stable. I think this is a wonderful purchase and I highly recommend iPad mini users to get one! …

Awesome!
I'm not sure why this got some bad reviews. Mine snapped right in to place the first try and it feels just as sturdy as the one on my full size iPad.
Simple, yet elegant. So glad I could get it to be an exact smaller version of my iPad! …- Written by Joshua W from Allen Park

Love It.
I love my iPad mini SmartCover. I bought the green one because it looks good against the Slate body of my mini. Despite what mos t review say, I have yet to have an issue with my cover or it staying on. The magnets in mine are just fine, and the cover operates fine for normal use. No, it isn't the best in protection, but it's a great accessory for those who just need a screen cover when not in use. It will not compare to big bulky cases that are designed to genuinely protect the iPad. …
