I originally bought a cheaper thunderbolt cable from a different vendor, thinking I would save a few bucks. After a month or so, I originally bought a cheaper thunderbolt cable from a different vendor, thinking I would save a few bucks. After a month or so, my thunderbolt drive would randomly eject itself, and the cable connectors would get hot. After about a week of this, it got to the point that I could not get my thunderbolt drive to even mount anymore. I went to the local apple store and purchased one of their cables, and the difference in quality is apparent. The Apple brand cable is easily over twice as thick as the other cable, making it look like a spaghetti noodle. I've been using the apple cable since, about 3-4 months with no problems. Well worth the money.

This new Apple cable seems to run much cooler than the old one. Lets hope it stays that way.
