I was disappointed with the 720p resolution I got from mirroring the "Retina" display and THEN read the Apple Web site.

I have recently purchased an unlimited data package with sprint with an Iphone 5 and an Iphone 6plus and I also purchased the Lightning Digital AV adapter and this is by far the best investment I have ever made!! The Lightning Digital AV Adapter works amazingly with both my 720p and 1080p TV's The picture is of amazing quality!! Only catch is you need an unlimited data package a long enough HDMI cable and you need to download apps such as Netflix, HULU plus etc etc... I was paying 250$ a month for cable/phone/internet plus a cell phone plus Netflix plus hulu plus plus amazon tv coming to a grand total of 380$ a month 4,560$$ a year .. Now I've cut out cable and i pay 110$ a month and i simply do everything from my phone and project it onto my tv, that saves me 270$ a month a total of 3,240.00 a year in savings!! now I pay 1,320$ a year instead of 4,560$ a year to simply do everything from my phone as i most of us do on a daily basis anyways!!! I would recommend this Lightning Digital AV Adapter to everyone I know and everyone I don't!! …

Worthless overpriced non-functioning piece of garbage
Sometimes I love apple products. Other times I am so frustrated with them that I feel compelled to write a review of them. I bough Sometimes I love apple products. Other times I am so frustrated with them that I feel compelled to write a review of them. I bought my adapter about five months ago from an unnamed box store. It worked fine until last night. The video simply stopped. I've tried three different hdmi cables, two different televisions, and three different devices. Every single one of them are audio only to the TV. I've heard the argument that apple is more form over function, most of the time I oppose that argument with the 8 year old laptop that I own that's still going strong. But in this case a little piece of cable wrapped in plastic that's $49.00 retail is just not worth the money. Moreover, it's a piece of hardware that doesn't carry a warrantee by any store or seller. I'm completely disappointed and frustrated with this device because I've never dropped it, mistreated it, or even handled it roughly and it simply stopped functioning as advertised. I'm a firm believer in the old saying you get what you pay for, in this case the effort put into making this product correctly does not come close to the effort I put in to earning the money to pay for it. In the exchange of value for value I got the short end of the deal. Don't waste your time with this product, the lowest bidder built it and it's being sold at a premium price. …

Just sent a previous answer that many are reporting iPhone 5/5s that updates to iOS 8.2 pops up a dialog that it's downloading updated firmware (which it does not really do) and the AV adapter won't work.
Several of us have resolved the issue by backing up the iPhone, then "reset iPhone" and then restored the backup to get data and settings back and that seems to solve the issue and no more dialogs about firmware downloading -adapter just works as it used to prior to iOS 8.2...
Apple Support KnowledgeBase article HT201252 describes detailed steps how to use iTunes to reset the iPhone.
This was such a relief to know that it was not the adapter and not having to wait until an iOS 8.3 update. …
