I was disappointed with the 720p resolution I got from mirroring the "Retina" display and THEN read the Apple Web site.

Failed after iOS 8.3 upgrade!
Worked great for the one week I had it before the iOS 8.3 upgrade. Now it is dead. As is the replacement adapter I ordered. Que Worked great for the one week I had it before the iOS 8.3 upgrade. Now it is dead. As is the replacement adapter I ordered. Questions related to this go unanswered in the support area. Apple... what happened to you? "It just works" used to be true. Now it is a bad joke. Don't you test anything anymore? I didn't mind you locking everything down to make sure it didn't get messed up by a user. But it ends up leaving us high and dry when there is a problem. I have purchased 4 mac laptops, 3 desk tops, 7 iPhones, 3 iPads and who knows how many iPods... 12? 15? for my family. Get your, um, "stuff" straight or I will make a change. …

Just sent a previous answer that many are reporting iPhone 5/5s that updates to iOS 8.2 pops up a dialog that it's downloading updated firmware (which it does not really do) and the AV adapter won't work.
Several of us have resolved the issue by backing up the iPhone, then "reset iPhone" and then restored the backup to get data and settings back and that seems to solve the issue and no more dialogs about firmware downloading -adapter just works as it used to prior to iOS 8.2...
Apple Support KnowledgeBase article HT201252 describes detailed steps how to use iTunes to reset the iPhone.

All Apple has to do is allow the orientation of the apple TV to be changed to vertical and it will be freaking awesome!
if they add this simple feature then they will once again have change everything. people will be able to use apple TV as a signage device. or have vertical TVs as hanging picture frames in your home.
I can not believe they have not add this feature yet!
it is quite frustrating.
