I bought this to connect my 5 to my car (Benz) electronics so I could control my phone with the car's joystick. Plugged it in and I bought this to connect my 5 to my car (Benz) electronics so I could control my phone with the car's joystick. Plugged it in and it worked perfectly (to my surprise). My car has a 30 pin cable out and this 30 pin to Lightning fit perfectly and is long enough to the two cables together can connect to the phone while in the cup holder.

My only complaint is the price (thus the 4 star rating). Apple should include one of these with every device as we've all made investments in 30 pin cables over the past 7 years. Starting to lose my patience with Apple over this one.

You buy this adapter because it works with your phone case Andy you carry it with you. White lightning connector cables are $19 and you can get white 30 pin cables for just a few bucks. You use this connector to use the 30 pin cables you have now. If you have to buy 4 lightning cables that's $80 and you still can't use the 30 pin docks without the adapter. This adapter while over priced at $39.99 it is still less than buying all new sync cables. This is a 5 star product but I only gave it 4 stars because of the price and Apple finding another way to make my wallet a little lighter. Apple you should have included one with the device, most of us would have bought at least one more.

Considering that they are changing this I would have thought they'd include one with the phone.

Enough griping, this cable works great and has even made it easier for me to talk on the phone while it is plugged into my car. The cable I had was a little too short to not have a constant tugging from the coiled cord. Now with the extra 20cm I can talk comfortably.

  • Not for iPhone 6!

    1.0 out of 5 stars

"Trust this Computer" will reappear regardless of phone resets. "This accessory may not be supported on this device" pops after "Trust this Computer" will reappear regardless of phone resets. "This accessory may not be supported on this device" pops after what looks like it is working when first attached, should read "is not supported". A very poor product that worked fine on the iphone 5. Spend your $40 at your own risk.

Since only 0.2m long, doesn't add a lot of length to my existing cable. And it works! Still have full steering wheel control of volume, track & playlist selection. Track & playlist names display on the stereo's LCD. And my third-party streaming radio app works as well.

I now have a adapter that will work with any Lightning equipped device, no matter the case on the device.

It is now September 2014 and the cable is already frayed and worn. For $40, you would think Apple could make this cable more durable. Apple makes great products, but when you need parts, it's highway robbery. I tried buying a cable that was supposedly approved by Apple for my IPad, however, it didn't work properly. Needless to say, I had to rely on genuine Apple products. I gave this product two stars because it didn't last a good year.
