Get the cord adaptor instead.
I ordered 2 of these adaptors. BIG PROBLEM: they do not connect to your Iphone 5 if you have a case. (I have the speck case). Si nce EVERYONE has a case, I am confused as to why Apple would make this product, or not even warn you that it does not plug in when a case is on your phone. The cord adaptor is a bit more expensive, but at least you won't ruin your case by having to continually put it on and off to use the adaptor. …

Will not work if your iPhone 5 has any kind of cover
The length of the lightning adapter is too short if you have any kind of cover with your iPhone 5. I have an Apple-like bumper cov er (similar to iPhone 4/4S) and the metal contact on the adapter is WAY TOO short. I suggest getting the Lighting to 30-pin Adapter Cable instead. The cable has a thin longer Lightning connection that will work with most iPhone 5 covers. …

Works well with slim covers.
Contrary to the reviews I've seen, I have had no problem using this while having a cover on my iPhone 5. I use this adapter specif ically so I may keep using my car XM Skydock (love it) with my iPhone 5 that I alternately use both an Elago Slim-Fit Case and Incase Span Case on. I have no problem whatsoever with the adapter fitting snugly.

TERRIBLE DESIGN
Though this adapter works fine with 30-pin cords and docks, it doesn't work with most iPhone 5 cases. Because of its terrible desi gn, it doesn't reach far enough to connect to an iPhone 5 wearing a full body case. I'm astonished that apple can make such thin and revolutionary phones, but can't make an adapter that doesn't require you to take your case off every time you use it. How about make it in the shape of a triangle??? …

You have to be kidding..really
This is my 3rd IPhone, and have always be pleased with the phone as well as accessories. No more, Went to my local AT&T store to upgrade to the I5. I also purchased a new SPECK cover that is designed for the I5. My husband inquired about an adapter to put into my other car charger that went with my 4S. Was told no problem so I purchased the adapter for $29.. The only problem is it will not hook up to my phone because it does NOT extend far enough to go into the plug opening. I am returning it to my dealer.....So it's not compatible..really …

works even better
than the cord that came with my iPhone, which sadly only works in certain positions. I've had my adapter for a few months now and it works really well to charge/sync my phone. It also connects to my Bose SoundDock with no issues. …

No, this is a Lightning to 30 pin (dock) adapter
It allows you to connect older iPhone cables (30 pin) to your new iPhone 5 or iPad 4 with a Lightning connector.
