perfect memory portal for large/multiple videos on smaller ipad minis
Have a 16GB ipad mini, but how to pack around a lot of videos to watch without clogging my ipad mini? Use this with a card to keep X ammount of videos to watch and upload at whim to my mini to watch, also use SD card as a photo library. basically this makes your ipad mini into a much larger platform for getting vids and pics onto it without having your computer at hand to upload new / diff vids or photos from. which is perfect for travel where you want a HUGE GB of vids to upload to watch on your ipad mini. …

Works as it should
I bought this for my new iPad mini. You should insert the card in the reader, then insert into iPad. No problem with transfer.

Works like it should, and as described
This does as it's advertised, transfer photos/videos from a camera into you iPad... works great! Please ignore the folks who give this one star because it doesn't do functions like external storage. …

Buyer beware - not for iPhone
Online it states in the description/spec that it's for ipad, but if you buy the box in a store there isn't any wording that hints it is not for an iPhone. 1star for the box. The device works fine up to 32 gig. …

It works well when it plays well with other products.
I bought the iPad Mini to go on vacation along with the Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader. My bad I did not realize it is only f or a camera as it is true you do have to have the directory/folder called DCIM for this to work. OK, my camera is a Nikon Coolpix, a pretty popular standard camera, in my opinion. The Nikon Coolpix when a SD card is used the camera creates the DCIM directory/folder plus another NCFL. Your pictures are then stored into another directory/folder under the DCIM directory/folder called 100Nikon. If you move all your pictures into the DCIM from the 100Nikon directory/folder and delete the extra folders 100Nikon and NCFL, the lightning fast transfer works to put your photos onto the iPad Mini. Works great then. But once you put the SD card back into your camera the file structure is then recreated and the SD card will not work again with the Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader for importing to in the iPad Mini without all the file/fold manipulation. I wish there was a way to state or drill down the file structure one the SD card with the iPad Mini. But you can't and thus a computer is needed. Not good for me to use on vacation when I wanted my iPad Mini to be my one and only solution for picture uploading. I need to find another solution. I was hoping that this was just an SD card reader not just for camera use, my bad for not reading the title better. I was hoping this was a more versatile tool than just the Lightning to USB Camera Adaptor which in my case would most likely be the better choice here. I want to purchase the Lightning to USB Camera Adaptor but I have read a review about how it will not work with Nikon CoolPix. Apple and Nikon apparently don’t play well together. SAD. I am really bummed about this purchase. …

Does what it says it does.
Ok so, all I see here is that it won't work with 64 gig cards blah blah blah. Seems to me you are the ones who did not do your res earch before you bought it. I read everything I can about almost everything I buy and i ask questions too. So I bought it knowing what it will and will not work with. No it does not work with your iphone so all you need to do is use the icloud, simple. this has done everything I need it to do and I bought it because I researched it and knew what it is for going in. Oh ya, some have said they cant use cloud because of no wifi, well I fixed that as well, just use your phone as a hot spot and your done BAM! …

- Asked by Tan C
- Dec 30, 2012
Answer
iPad can read photos & video from an SD card, but I don't think you'll be able to transfer video in the real format. Better to use a Mac or PC to convert the files and then iTunes to transfer them to your iPad, or put them on the web. …
