The sleek, compact USB SuperDrive.
Everything you need in an optical drive.
Whether you’re at the office or on the road, you can play and burn both CDs and DVDs with the Apple USB SuperDrive. It’s perfect when you want to watch a DVD movie, install software, create backup discs, and more.
Take it anywhere.
Only slightly bigger than a CD case, the Apple USB SuperDrive slips easily into your travel bag when you hit the road and takes up little space on your desk or tray table when you’re working.
The essence of simplicity.
You’ll never have to worry about lost cables with the Apple USB SuperDrive. It connects to your MacBook Pro with Retina display, MacBook Air, iMac, or Mac mini with a single USB cable that’s built into the SuperDrive. There’s no separate power adapter, and it works whether your Mac is plugged in or running on battery power.

Perfect DVD drive for Macbook Air Users
For some reason, the burning speed is much faster on this SuperDrive than other standalone DVD drives you find on Amazon. I tried the Amazon Basic DVD drive, but the speed is so slow that I had to return it. The Apple USB SuperDrive doesn't have this problem, though. …

Good idea, but limited.
This is a good idea when it comes to improving the design of the MacBooks, but for the hassle and the cost, you'd think it could b e blu-ray capable. Seriously. The retina display has a resolution of 2880 x 1800. I think it's time for 1080p viewability. …

Great product.
I recently bought this to install software on my new MacBook Pro with retina display and it does its job quite well. Although it s till irks me that such a device is even necessary in this day and age. Sure improved portability is a nice feature but taking away the optical disk drive to do so seems silly. Overall no complaints, however. …

Useful Drive
I have a MacBook Pro and you have to have one of these things because the new model MacBook is too thin to have one internally. Personally I could do with a computer that's a little bit thicker, but this thing isn't that expensive and in my experience works well. I've not burned any disks but have used the drive to install software and watch DVDs. Works fine for these two purposes. …
