The sleek, compact USB SuperDrive.
Everything you need in an optical drive.
Whether you’re at the office or on the road, you can play and burn both CDs and DVDs with the Apple USB SuperDrive. It’s perfect when you want to watch a DVD movie, install software, create backup discs, and more.
Take it anywhere.
Only slightly bigger than a CD case, the Apple USB SuperDrive slips easily into your travel bag when you hit the road and takes up little space on your desk or tray table when you’re working.
The essence of simplicity.
You’ll never have to worry about lost cables with the Apple USB SuperDrive. It connects to your MacBook Pro with Retina display, MacBook Air, iMac, or Mac mini with a single USB cable that’s built into the SuperDrive. There’s no separate power adapter, and it works whether your Mac is plugged in or running on battery power.

Perfect DVD drive for Macbook Air Users
For some reason, the burning speed is much faster on this SuperDrive than other standalone DVD drives you find on Amazon. I tried the Amazon Basic DVD drive, but the speed is so slow that I had to return it. The Apple USB SuperDrive doesn't have this problem, though. …

Good idea, but limited.
This is a good idea when it comes to improving the design of the MacBooks, but for the hassle and the cost, you'd think it could b e blu-ray capable. Seriously. The retina display has a resolution of 2880 x 1800. I think it's time for 1080p viewability. …

Great product.
I recently bought this to install software on my new MacBook Pro with retina display and it does its job quite well. Although it s till irks me that such a device is even necessary in this day and age. Sure improved portability is a nice feature but taking away the optical disk drive to do so seems silly. Overall no complaints, however. …

Shouldn't Be Paying So Much For This
This machine does what it's supposed to do. I haven't run into any problems with it and it works really fast and dependable.
What I don't understand however is why Apple would take this out as part of the deal with buying a Mac Pro. CDs are still a very important part of in society, and to take something out that was previously part of a computer is silly. $80 is exspensive when you're already buying a new computer. Plus it doesn't offer Blue Ray. I absolutely had to buy it allow me to install my educational disk of CS6. Apple does not help its customers in saving money and tries to nickel and dime every little thing now. Also, the chord needs to be longer, or at least be blue tooth or something so it is not always in my way. …- Written by meaghan L from atlanta

Piece of Cr@@
If all you want to do is watch DVDs this works just fine...
But if you want to burn an audio CD you're screwed. I've been trying to burn CDs for hours and everytime the tracks have skipping in them. I had my computer laying on a bed and decided that was the problem. Switched to a table and had the same problem... …- Written by Jeremy F from Arlington
